There's nothing wrong with listening to music. If someone would like to say there is, then that person will have to account for all the times music was played in the bible, but was never rebuked by God. For example, David played a harp for the King. David was never rebuked by God for playing music. That's only one example of many.

Also, the type of music you listen is NOT offensive to God. Some people in response to your question said that music is bad if it does not glorify God. However, there are many things we do everyday that do not intrinsically glorify God, like watch football games, or read a good mystery novel, or bike ride, or jog, or build a model airplane, or whatever else you might be into. These things do not intrinsically glorify God, so are you saying that we should not do them? Of course that would be a ridiculous notion. Well, why should music be any different? There are some things we do, or participate in that do not intrinsically gorify God. But, that does not mean that they are intrinsically evil. Some things are just neutral. And, there is nothing wrong with that. Now, if you're into music that intrinsically edifies evil, then of course, I would say abstain from it. But if it's neutral, what's the big deal? Everyone participates in things that are neutral everyday. If they say they only participate in things that intrinsically glorify God, then they lie.

You apparently do not have the facts before you posted your comment. Christians love music because praise is what draws the attention of God for He inhabits the praises of His People..Now there is music that is also used of Satan and it works in the same manner. But Satan and his demonic host does not hang around where the praises and music tthat glorifies God Almighty is. So there is good music and evil music and the wise Christian knows the difference between the two and chooses to glorify God in music that brings forth His Praise and Presense..

Although there are some religions that speak against music, they do so not being in accordance with the Word of God.

Now, there is types of music believers should not listen to. If the music edifies the believer or brings him closer to God through the music, then it is acceptable to listen to.

Yet, if the music encourages thoughts that are contrary to God and can cause the believer to sin, then he must refrain from listening to it.

it's not saying dont listen to music, we just be careful about what we listen to. I personally have a thing for gospel and R&B and I by no means am the music police, but if something is too explicit or tooo filthy I know how to turn it off. Be careful about what you let get in your mind and how you let it affect you.

Read my profile. In addition to listening to Led Zeppelin and Rush, I'm also a huge KISS fan, Yes, Jethro Tull, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer (awesome guitarist), Ozzy, and many others. Except rap and country music. I hate rap and country music.

I'm a Christian and I love music......

Even in the perfect worship of heaven they use harps to aid their praise to God (Revelation 14:2-3). And, "the anointed cherub that covereth" (Ezekiel 28:13-14) was created with the music-making aids of tabrets and pipes in him (v.13) to be used for the praise of God.

Straight from the Bible!

NO one here has ever said that Christians are not to listen to music. I listen to rap, rock, etc.

Please provide proof that Christians hate music. I want to see statistics.
