My boyfriend is vegetarian, I am vegan, and we are visiting NYC next month for a couple of nights. Our hotel is near Penn Station (8th Avenue and 34th Street), and we are relatively familiar with the subway system.

What would be a good place not too far away to get a good vegan breakfast? I'm perfectly happy with soy yogurt and granola or a bowl of oatmeal.

Thanks!

These aren't too close to where you are staying, but would be a nice place to have brunch one morning in the east village.

Angelica's Kitchen
300 12th St. (between 2nd and 3rd ave.)

Kate's Joint
58 Ave. B at 4th street

I'm sorry that I can't help you with a vegan restaurant in the immediate vicinity of Penn Station that is open for breakfast. I love Hangawi, a Korean vegetarian restaurant that isn't far from your hotel - 32nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

If your breakfast can wait until 11am, the owners of Hangawi also own a vegan Korean teahouse called Franchia on Park and 34th - they make a good porridge.
