Well man is in the image of God before the fall. When man sinned, man died spiritually (denied the tree of life). Then man died physically.

Man started out a trinity; body, soul & spirit.

Jesus Christ was born without sin nature so was whole; body, soul & spirit. And Is the express Image of God. We then bear the image of God when we are born again, born of His Spirit, made whole; body, soul & spirit.

God did create man in His own image. And He also created man with a free will. man has the freedom to choose God, obey Him and follow after Him, or go his own way. When Adam and Eve chose to listen to satan and disobey God then sin entered into their lives. It's not God's fault man is so stupid. We choose to be stupid. If you want to find out more about why we do what we do, read the book of Genesis and the book of John.

Part of that image of God, that He gave man is the right to chose. Lots of people make poor choices, hence the poor image.

Yes, God created man in his own image...man rejected that image in favor of one he created for himself. ...and no... knowing man can provide a wonderful image of God when you see a person that believes and loves and trusts and helps others, you get a picture of God...and it is so nicely contrasted with the picture of those that focus on creating their own image through self-promotion, lying, cheating, stealing, whatever...

I see the difference...no, not in all that claim to know God but in those whose actions reflect the image of God.

Christians and Muslims believe that God created in 'his own image'!
He called him, "the crown of His creations."
Shakespeare has described man as 'the paragon of animals!'
He has endowed him with the"sixth sense", denied to many other creations. "He has taught man what he did not know!"And finally He has made him His vicegerant on
earth and placed all natural forces under his control.
He has honoured the children of Adam with means of transport on land, sea, air and space! He has let man to develop science and explore the universe.
"SurelyHe created man in the finest mould,
but man has, through his disobedience, become 'the lowest of the low!"
It is all due to man's negligence and default.
Yet his face has the grace of the divine.

Yes, but the image was corrupted by sin. Its like a copier when the toner is almost out. Jesus came to restore the image to what it was originally. If you accept Christ, the transformation begins: He will make you a new creature. He can renew your mind. He will give you a new body at the day of Resurrection "for we shall be like him."

Don't confuse the outer package with the inner. Though made in His image or similar physical form. This image is an outer appearance. As humans, we found a way to be utterly lacking in on the inside, in good behavior. Whose fault is that then?
Ours, ....soley, completely and totally ours.

Actually, God created man perfect, pure and holy as He is. It is because of the transgression of Adam that mankind is under the curse of sin bringing both physical and spiritual death and separation from Almighty God. This is why God sent Jesus Christ to die and to redeem mankind back to the Father, but to those who refuse to receive God's plan of Salvation will die in their sins and be forever separated in a place prepared for Satan..So God in His unconditional love, mercy, and grace, chooses to give the gift of life and making it available to all, and to make mankind once again, perfect, pure, and holy, through Christ and this is what type of GOD we serve and will one day rule and reign with....

If God is spirit as the bible says He is, then we need to define some terms here, and "image" would be a good one to start with, yes?
