Hey buddy, if you are asking people on yahoo for answers you obviously do not have the billions of dollars required to start an airline.
First off you need the money and investors. .
Then you need information about routes and how much the airports charge for gate fees, landing fees, etc
Stewardesses and Pilots.
The expenses are on going and almost never ending.
So unless you are this billionaire nobody has ever heard of I doubt it will become reality.
But never stop dreaming thats a great dream and who knows it might just somehow become reality...maybe

I would think that the 737 would be the best for startups because if you look at the discout airlines that is the bird that they are flying in most cases. A small regional carrier that has started in my area is flying DHC Dash 8s
What you have to look at is what type of service and to where a discount airline in Canada started with long haul aircraft because they found a niche in the market that they could operate in.
Lastly you most airlines don't buy the planes they usually lease them.
Keep on dreaming I used to dream about my own airline a small regional one where I was the CEO and chief pilot but I was grounded (medical). I think that in many places there is a market for a small regional airline flying to the smaller airports around the big hubs with a ground service to the larger airport. Anyway that was what I was going to do.

Below is the pricelist for the different planes Boeing makes as well as a link to starting an airline and the factors you need to weigh when deciding which plane is the best for the routes you may want to fly. I think a good rule of thumb is to buy the largest, most efficient plane you can come closest to filling the seats on a consistent basis, and to figure the cost per passenger of the different planes on the routes you want to fly. I think it's great you have a dream and a goal like starting an airline, let me know when you're ready to go, I'd like to apply for a job. Good luck.

Me too I wish I could start my own airline, but you need the money :(. For my airline, it would be a low cost carrier, with embraer 170s, or boeing 737-800s. (or an aircraft for sale, like a 737-300 or get a lease for a 737-700):D, I doubt I would be able to save up enough to start my own airline one day, though.

There's an old saying ..." if you want to be a millionaire, just start off with a billion dollars, buy an airline and go down from there."

You don't have much idea.
For what routes, capacity, frequency????
The 717 or the 747-8??
500 miles or 13,000 miles?
Low cost? All business? Charter?
And just so you have an idea, one airplane can cost you $60Millions (737), or $290 Millions for the 747-8.
So...start saving money.
