Many of us have close relationships with one or more Gods/Goddesses.

The ones I'm closest to are Hestia, Hera, and Eris (long story with that last one.....). Which ones are you closest to?

I am very close to Heimdall, the guardian of the Bifrost Bridge. He is the teacher of mankind under his other name of Rig. While Odin is the god of wisdom, it is his son Heimdall who teaches this wisdom to mankind.

My family has a close relationship to Balder the fair, the first son of Odin, and Freyr the merry son of Njord and Vanir, the god of agriculture, fertility, and Lord of the Elves. We must be blessed by Freyr because everyone in my family has lots of children (mostly strong sons and a few pretty daughters).

I also like Idunna the innocent and fair, the apple goddess, and bringer of health and everlasting youth. Freya also speaks to me a lot. While she is the goddess of love and beauty, people forget that she is also the Queen of the Valkyries. She gets first pick of the warriors fallen in battle, so the greatest warriors actually go into Freya's hall Folkvangr, while Odin gets seconds.

And Skadi, Ullr, Tyr....Oh, there are sooooo many great ones to choose from!

Not only are there hard polytheists, my impression is that Wicca was originally hard polytheistic. "All gods are one god and all goddesses one goddess" is NOT a central Wiccan belief. It is a quote by Dion Fortune (who was not a Wiccan) mentioned in a book by Doreen Valiente about witchcraft (which was influenced by many sources, not just what we now call Wicca). Most Traditionalists that I have spoken to describe themselves as hard polytheists. So yes, there's plenty of room for hard polytheism.

Selene the moon Goddess is my guide and teacher. I also have a strong kinship to the sea but have yet to find or be found by a particular sea god or goddess that I could develope a close relationship with the way I have a close relationship with Selene.

Hades. My name (Elysia) is derived from the name of the heavenly part of the Greek Underworld - the Elysium Fields. That started things off and made me curious.

A long story after that... I'm not sure I can be bothered to explain. But I swear he's spoken to me before.

I'm strange, I know.~
