The fact that he is of the Christian faith does not exempt him from guilt in the crime of rape. If he did, in fact, rape her, he is a criminal. He needs to be held accountable. If he did it to her, he'll do it to someone else. Can the pastor intervene for her in any way? Why is there nothing the police can do? If he is bothering her, and she has told him not to, she could try to get a restraining order.

Edit to add: Is he bothering her? You say he's playing mind games. In what way? She should try to keep a distance from him, and if he won't leave her alone, and she can't get a restraining order - then she needs to find a brother or an uncle or someone to 'have a talk' with him.

That depends on what is meant by "Christian". As far as I know, Christians are people know acknowledge their sins and repent of them, not people who are and always have been morally perfect. That said, it's hard for me to imagine reconciling acceptance of basic Christian morality with something so heinous as rape. At the least he is a hypocrite but more likely he's also an opportunist exploiting her religious trust to his own ends.

In any case, if he raped her and if- as you say, the police can't do anything - she needs in the very least to seek rape counseling and get that individual as far from her life as she can. She's not going to be able to heal if she still is eating his poison and rationalizations.

I would say no, he's not a Christian, though perhaps he holds Christian beliefs. There is a difference.

Maybe your friend should read the scripture in which Jesus talks about men like the one that raped her. I can get it for you if you need it, I can't recall the book or chapter at the moment.

And has your friend gotten therapy? Why is she still talking to the guy?

look girl, Jesus said that the true Christians will do the will of God. Rape goes against all Bible rules! Many people just call themselves Christians, but their hearts are far from God, and they just make the true believers look bad with stories like this. That man should be arrested and put to jail for this crime.

I think there is a difference between being a Christian and having a personal relationship with the Lord. KKK claimed to be christians and the people that founded this country claimed to be christians and started slavery. Everybody comes short of the glory of the Lord. No one is perfect on this earth, if we were perfect there would be no reason for Jesus to die for our sins. The key is to not be religious. Don't just talk about it be about it. Christians tend to always worry about what everyone else is doing and not looking at themselves in the mirror and working on themselves. When you do things for the wrong reasons (like claiming to be a christian) and not for the Lord, then you have people like him who claims to be a christian but rapes people. But one thing people tend to forget is that we are not perfect. People look at christians and expect us to be holier than thou but we are not. "Being confident in this, that he who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" Phil 1:6 This means that God is always working on you. But the person has to want to in their heart. She should get away from him. Let him work his own issues out and pray for him. Prayer really works. Good Luck and God Bless You!

What do you mean there's nothing the police can do? She was raped. She files charges. He gets arrested.

I don't care what he "claims" to be, only God knows for sure. Hitler claimed to be a Christian, too, and we all know what he did!

she needs to go to the police immediately to get a rape kit done to her. that way they can take semen samples to show that the man did rape her. also, go back to the police and get a restraining order against the rapist. i think that christainity has really nothing to do with the fact that this man raped this girl. that man is a bad person because of it and religion has nothing to do with it. ridiculous.

She should get emotional counseling from her elders in her own church. Also some denominations are large and there are lawyers which can be of help in the civil realm.
If the man is a member of a church. She could connect the church and have charges placed against him.

We will know Christians not just by their profession of faith but by the things that they do. Yes, we will all make mistakes and some will voluntarily make mistakes since they think they will ultimately be forgiven. Jesus talks about being lukewarm or cold in faith. I struggle with those people who live a life of abuse and hurt others, and claim that they have faith. With their faith there will be evidence of what is in their hearts.

Why can't the police do anything--did she wash away the evidence?
Christians sin just like everyone else, but he surely isn't following Christ if he is doing things like that.
