It really doesn't matter. You can train her in Japanese if you want (but that might be difficult if you don't know Japanese).
Take her to obedience class, and it also helps to read some dog training books to get extra pointers. Every dog trainer out there has slightly (or radically) different methods to training dogs. The more information you get, the more advice you have to choose from.
Good luck!

Some use German but speak English so they don't accidentally give a command or release the dog. How many times a day do you say OK? Its not a good release command if its used in casual speaking to others in the house, nor is sit etc. You do however need to be able to say what ever the word is consistently (even if you pronounce it wrong, the dog will still learn that pronunciation for the command) also using hand signals with voice commands is very very good because they can be used at a distance, in loud noisy areas, when you don't want a command to be heard by others around you etc. Dogs natural communication is body language not voice. They learn faster what a signal means than a word. Another benefit of using a language you do not routinely speak is to reduce the chances of someone else giving your dog commands if it is an eager to please humans kind of dog.

You can use whatever language you are most comfortable with. The language doesn't matter, the method you use does. When you give her a command, only tell her once, as in "(your dog's name), sit", then, without being mad, go to her and give her the command again, as you make her sit. Then tell her she's a good girl. Dogs learn to respond in the time you give them. So if you say, "fifi, sit" 5 times before you make her do it, she'll start waiting for that 5th command before she does it. Once you decide what language you want to use to communicate with her, always use the same words, if you don't you'll have to teach her sit in every language you use. Put her on a leash, and start working with her on basic commands you use every day: sit, stay, come, down, heel, whatever else you think you need. At her age, she's learning to be independent, this is the time to make her realize that you are the boss, and she needs to do what you tell her. So you need to be consistent (train her every day), only give her the command once (and then again as you make her do what you asked), and use lots of praise so that she knows what she did was right. German Shepherds are very smart dogs. The more you teach her the faster she'll learn. So get out there and train her, you'll both have fun, and she'll turn into that great dog you want her to be!

I had a German Shepard, of coarse I originate from Germany, and I must say that dog is one of the smartest things I've ever seen...I would recommend German.
Here is a link to a web site for some commands in German and translated into English.

Honestly I find dogs respond much quicker to German than they do to English.

It doesn't matter what language you use with her, she will respond faster if you train her about 30 minutes a day, everyday, and be consistent. Consider taking her to a training class where she can not only learn commands but can also have some socialization.

you should train your dog in your own language. some other people who commented said english because they speak english and they do not know what they are talking about. dogs do not spek english, they speak dog, so any language will work. practice, treats, and love is the fastest way to get her to respond quickly. good luck!

You use BODY language and Proper Projection of your attitude as her pack leader. Whatever human language you choose to use doesn't really matter one bit, silly goose.
I found a really nice link for you. Click it.
