For many people, there are only two options. You can lie and say you believe, or you can be honest and admit you don't. Which is better in the eyes of your god, an honest atheist or a lying Christian?

An honest atheist is more honorable than an atheist who lies to gain favor with Christians.

You're question was "which is better in the eyes of your god, an honest atheist or a lying christian?" There is no better in eyes of God- a sin is a sin. To reject Jesus as you're personal Savior or to lie is not acceptable to God.

God knows our hearts. But the second option is incorrect. If one lied about it, he wouldn't be a Christian. So I believe the choices come down to a truthful atheist, or a lying atheist. But both will be in Hell.

Here's the deal - if someone says they believe, but they really do not, they are not a lying Christian. To clear it up completely, just believing that Christ existed does not make a person a Christian. One that follows Christ, and allows Christ to rule and reign in their life is what makes one a Christian. Even the demons believe and tremble, as it is written. You must act on your belief in order to show your faith.
The first answer that you got is laughable. Satan is a liar, and the father of all lies. All liars shall have their place in the lake of fire, as it is written. Must be a sin.

According to the bible, an honest athiest would be better that one who is saying they are a Christian when one doesn't believe in Jesus. That is being a hypocrite.

But a hypocrite isn't a real Christian.

To become a Christian you must confess with your mouth Jesus Christ your Lord & Savior (act of faith) and believe in your heart He raised from the dead. Works without faith is dead works & faith without works is dead. You need both. Act out in faith to receive atonement for sins (works) and believe in your heart (faith) in the resurrection.

Ananias & Sapharis told Peter they gave all their money & so generous. They were lying to the Holy Spirit. They really gave a portion of it. Because of this, they died in front of everyone & went to heaven early.

Neither are better to God. All sin is the same in His eyes, that is, He does take one sin as better than the other. the beauty of faith is that you can lie to man but to God you are always an open book and He is the Judge.

god knows that you are lying so that wont get you anywhere, but if you at least give god a chance, he will reveal himself to you so you wont need to lie. he knows if you really want to know him or not. so no point in lying about it. you can go on choosing not to believe and not caring to do anything about it. or you can give god a shot, show him you are willing to believe if he shows you how, and he will lead you to it.

There is no such thing as a lying Christian in the truest sense of the word Christian

You are describing the same person, not two.

As you describe the situation, you have two people that do not believe in God, regardless of how they define themselves, in Gods eyes they are unbelievers.

How many times must one kill to be called a murder? once.
How many times must on lie to be called a liar? same as above.

There is no question.

To follow Jesus is best.

All of us sin and fall short of the glory of God.

I hope this helps you (it blessed me):
