I've never been on a date at university. I'm not into university type social activities (drinking, clubbing, parties) or social organizations. I am, however, very outgoing in class, and get along very well with people. I simply don't care to socialize outside of class. I'm in 4th year, so my classes are small. Do university-aged guys tend not to ask out girls they know only from class?

Cybele, the easiest way for someone unaccustomed to asking for a date is to begin talking to a girl before and after class. If she's open to your conversation, one day you can say, "I'm going to [name of place] for coffee (or lunch, or a beer, whatever). Want to come along?" It's totally casual, no pressure, and no hurt feelings if she can't, in which case you just say, "Maybe another time. Got plans for Thursday?"

Most guys don't bother asking out girls in class. Class is stuff and all work...not a place to relax and socialize. And in some place you can even get in trouble for 'sexually assaulting' someone on the school grounds by asking them out.

That is what social activities are for....
