So, we got this crockpot for a wedding gift (1 1/2 years ago). It has never been used because I have no clue what to do with it. Do you know of any good cookbooks for crockpot recipies, or websites that have good recipies? Or, do you have your own recipe you would be willing to share? Also, I would like for them to be low-fat or at least healthy meals. Thank you so much!

Crockpots are really great for soups - just throw in a couple cans of stock or water, add some chopped veggies and some herbs and let simmer all day - yum! Also you can add some beans if you like - super easy and satisfying with a crusty loaf of bread for dinner!

Crockpots/slow cookers are fabulous*

Today i'm making a roast beef in the crock pot. I've made chicken and porkchops also the same way.

Peel/dice up a couple of carrots, throw on bottom of crockpot,
do the same to a medium sized onion and again, throw into bottom of crockpot

I brown my meat (roast beef or pork chops or chicken) in a bit of oil on the stove just to seer in the juices*
*You don't have to brown the meat-tis optional*
Place the meat ontop of the carrots and onions, add some salt and pepper to taste,

I then take bbq sauce or HP sauce (same as A1 sauce) squirt some into a cup add some water, stir and pour over meat. PLace lid on and turn to low= cook for 6-8hrs or on high for 3-4 hrs.

You can then make 5min rice or boil up some potatoes for your side dish* add other veggies if you fancy to your side dish~

***Tip with crockpot, is to walk away once lid is on. It's not the same as cooking on the stove where you can lift the lid to see how things are coming along. If you lift the lid on a crockpot it will take 20min longer to cook than the original time. NEVER open the lid. Never add too much water* ONly about 1/2cup -1 cup of liquid should be poured into crockpot*

You can make spaghetti sauce in a crockpot, ribs, chicken, porkchops, beef,....stews........

In your search engine, type in Crock Pot Recipes...you'd be surprised how much simpler life just got and how tasty your food is*

ENjoy* Experiment* :)

I love using my crock pot. I use my crockpot alot, especially during the summer time. I do not want to heat up my kitchen so I use the crockpot.

I put the meal in the crockpot at night before I go to bed and we enjoy it the next evening. It works great and we get a delicious meal with no fuss.

Chicken and Rice/Chicken and New Potatoes

Place enough rice or new potatoes in the crockpot to feed your family.
Pour in some cream of chicken soup (undiluted) onto that. Place chicken breasts on top. Cover chicken with cream of chicken soup.
Cook 8-10 hours (or overnight) and then enjoy.

Ranch Chicken with New Potatoes

Place enough new potatoes in the crockpot to feed your family. Pour some Ranch Salad dressing over the potatoes. Place chicken on top. Cover chicken with more Ranch dressing. Cook 8-10 hours on low. I let mine cook all night long.

Pork Chops & Apples

Put 1 T. butter into crockpot. Cut up 3-4 apples into bite sized chunks and place in crockpot. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon. Pour a small box of raisins on top. Place pork chops on top. Pour 1 cup Apple Jelly on top of the chops. Cook 8-10 hours on low.

These are just a few things I cook in the crock pot. You can even cook baked potatoes in it.

My family loves these meals and they are good for you because they are not fried. Enjoy!

I love my crock pot and use it all the time! Especially in the winter for soups and stews, or in the summer when it's too hot for the oven.

My favorite recipe site has over 5000 crock pot recipes listed.

Have fun!
