I'm looking for a church in DeKalb, IL. Most of them seem a little conservative for me despite the fact I was raised Lutheran. My boyfriend and I are college students but I don't want a typical "college" church because we're looking for a place to get married. Also, since most the churches I come across only have a service at 9am on Sunday, are there any good churches with alternative times (later on Sunday, Saturday, midweek...). We're willing to drive to Sycamore or another surrounding community. Thank you.

St John's, in Sycamore is a Lutheran Church that has a 10:30 am service. http://www.stjohnsycamore.org/ (LCMS)

Salem Lutheran, in Sycamore also has a 10:30 service. http://salemlutheransycamore.org/ (ELCA)

You really aren't going to find Saturday evening services in a Lutheran church unless you are in a much bigger area.

HistoryGirl,
Hello. I suggest a Non-Denominational Church that follows ONLY the BIBLE and does NOT use any man-made creeds. I found the following that may work for you:
http://church-of-christ.org/churches/United_States/Illinois_S.htm
http://www.yellowpages.com/Dekalb-IL/Churches-Church-Of-Christ?From=qpiCityState
There are other churches that I would be glad to locate if you are interested in a specific Church/Denomination just let me know. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Dear historygirl,

The church age ended in 1988....that is God stopped using ANY local congregations to bring forth the Gospel. We are presently in the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24). Many people continue to attend church not knowing that they are actually worshipping satan. You see in 2 Thessalonians 2 the Lord tells us: "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way." The "he that now letteth..." is the Holy Spirit, who has absented Himself from ALL the local churches, regardless of denomination. Therefore, it is IMPOSSIBLE to be saved in the churches with out the Holy Spirit of God. The fact of the matter is that the man of sin, who can be shown to be satan, is now ruling in the churches. Remember in Isaiah 14...satan wanted to be like the Most High (God). When satan got Adam and Eve to disobey the Lord, satan became the ruler of the world--Adam was given dominion of the earth until satan got him to disobey God. So satan is the "god of this world" (2 Cor 4:4). But satan could not rule in the church because God was present. Now the "man of sin" or the "son of perdition" (satan) is now ruling in the churches. This is because the people have fallen away from the truth, ie., the word of God.

This is why God is telling the true believers (elect) to get out of the churches (Matthew 24:15, 16; Revelation 18:4). Satan is the father of lies as we know but according to 2 Thessalonians 2, God is now sending people a "strong delusion" to believe the lie...the lies of satan. Remember when God said in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 when they say "Peace and safety" then cometh sudden destruction...? We are in the 19th year of the 23 year Great Tribulation. I do not have enough space to tell you everything but please go to the sources I list below.
