We sprayed our TV screev with windex and some dripped down onto the button pannel, all of the sudden the volume went up to 64 (the highest setting.) We finally got the volume down, but none of the buttons except the power button works properly now. Our DVD won't open, we can't get a video tape out of the VCR part, almost all of the buttons make the little volume bar come up on the screen, and if you hold the DVD/open/close button it will make the volume go up, but the volume only stays there for a few seconds then it goes down all the way on it's own. What do we do to fix this???? How do we vet our video tape out?? Thanks for the help!

by the way it's a Toshiba with a built in DVD player and a built in VCR.

It's either a MW20F51,MW24F51, or a MW27F51 Toshiba. The remote doesn't do anything either.

When my son was younger he sprayed the TV with water, it was acting weird too, we unplugged it and let it dry out for a few days, plugged it back in and it was fine.

So, unplug it and go pick up some books to entertain you for a few days ;-)

Next time, spray the rag and not the TV directly!

There is a real technical term for what you describe. It is called "the Windex syndrome". The only way to fix the problem is to take it in for replacement of the contaminated switch(es).

Never spray anything directly on the front of any TV. Spray the cloth, then wipe, making sure NONE of the fluid runs into the front of the set, especially those sets where the buttons are beneath the CRT.

First. DO NOT OPEN THE TV. The CRT tube in a TV can carry enough AMPS to kill you even if the TV is not plugged in. Unplug the TV and arrange for a profesional to work on it. It may be ruined for good. In the future, you should avoid using a liquid when cleaning the TV screen but if you are going to spray a small amount of Windex on the Paper Towel and then clean the screen

I think you'll just have to wait until it dries out. Always turn the tv off before cleaning and spray the windex on the rag, not on the screen itself.

Umm you should have sprayed the Windex on a cloth and used it like that. Sounds like your only option is a professional repair man.

Unplug it NOW! Turn it up on its side to shake any water out. WAIT patiently for about 4 hrs for it to dry out. Don`t panic, it will probably be ok after it dries out.

well im not sure i'd say you are screwed
you are not supposed to spray cleaning products directly onto electronics
you should have sprayed it onto the cloth rather then spray it directly on your tv
sorry that happened though!!

you are probably out of luck....moisture and electric aren't made to mix....You should always clean your appliances when they are unplugged and given time to air before using them....
