My 3 year/36 month warranty on my 2005 Nissan is about to expire. Should I buy the extended warranty? I haven't had any major problems with the vehicle, and I was wondering if it's worth buying the extended warranty.

Extended warranties on cars are next to useless, and are only a ploy to extract more money out of your wallet. With these, you are gambling that you will have a major problem with your relatively new vehicle so that you break even on the cost.

I have owned several new vehicles with 36/36 warranties, and even after 100K miles on my cars, they were not in need of repairs. It depends greatly on how you maintain your vehicle to determine if you will need major work done when the car is older. Change your oil every 3000 miles, no exceptions!

Better to do is to put aside the amount of money you would have spent on the warranty into a separate savings account and use that money towards any repairs you might need in the future.

it all depends on the true value of the nissan, if it is a maxima probaly so (more costliy repairs), if it is a manual - entry model, no (cheap repair @any garage). I would put the cost of the warranty into a CD (certificate of depsoit) and let it stay there until I need it. i've done that with all of my warranty cost of cars I've brought over 20 plus years. i now have a sizable CD, because I keep putting the cost of each warranty into the CD rather than buying the warranty.

Keep any car's maintenance up and you won't have a major problem if it is a decent model and make. hope that helps.

Now is not the time buy warranty. Do it when you finance the car. Many aftermarket plans are no good. Check the Universal Underwriters web site they are good. And any repair shop can get paid for repairs to your car..Extended Warranty is just mechanical breakdown coverage insurance. I would reccomend saving that money for future use put it in the bank. Your car has many powertrain covered parts to 6 year 60 thousand miles and emission control items that are warrantied for 8 years 80 thousand miles.

It usually does not pay to extend the warranty. If you have something go wrong, most likely it is not under warranty anyway. I say save the money for future repairs. Don't renew, unless it covers everything 100% bumper to bumper and all electronics and drivetrain, and at a good price.

Here's my advice. I would buy it. I have experienced numerous times that shortly after my warranty expires, no sooner something happens. I just extended my computer warranty & bought one for my new digital camera. Thank God I had one for my old camera, b/c I needed to use it.

When it comes to Jap cars --sorry to say -as an American--they make a better car and stand by their customers. I doubt your car will ever have to visit the Dealer other then routine maintaince---I think their standard warranty will cover your needs and fully agree with John Paul it is a waste of money.

i wouldn't buy the one they offer because there's too many problems with their warranty's,your better off not buying it ,chances are your not going to need it,and even if you do they will always have some kind of a deductible attached to it,save your money in case something does happen to it,i doubt that you,ll need it on that one though,Nissan's hold up very well, good luck with it.

If you like the car, then extend it. If you hate it, then jump up and stop the warranty.
