I am 18 years old, and i am soon to move out and live out on my own in about a year. Unfortunately, i talked to my parents about it and they gave me horrifying news! They told me they lost my birth certificate, passport, green card, and i forgot what else they told me they lost. So, i'm highly upset and not talking to them. Can anyone orient me as to where i can get copies of these papers from? Please tell me i can get copies.

Of course you can get copies.

Get a new green card from CIS. Here's the form and instructions.

Get your birth certificate from the country of your birth. Contact the embassy of your country for instructions. The embassy can also issue you a new passport.

I agree with shroomigator. Your parents haven't lost your papers, they just don't want you to move on your own.

You can get copies of all your documents if you have all the information. I'm sure you know what country you were born in.

Contact your Embassy and ask them for information. They are there to help you.

As for your green card, you can contact the USCIS.

Good luck and don't despair. You can do it!!

Yeah your parents are liars.

Just apply for your own birth cert, passport green card and all that other stuff. and keep not talking to them.

Your parents do not want you to move out. It is doubtful that they lost such important papers, they are just using this as an excuse to make you stay.

Well, my guess is they never had any of those forms of identification for you. You may have been illegal right from the beginning. Or you may even be some kid that is on some missing child list. Start snooping on the internet. Good luck.
