I'm just woundering what activities or certian skills should a 16 mo. old be doing. Just woundering if she is ahead of schedule for her age and also how many words do they speek right now? I know that all kids develop differently but just wanted to know. Thank You.

My son is only 14 months and here is what he enjoys doing:

scribbling with crayons
throwing/kicking a ball
building with legos
placing lids on containers..who knew all our rubber maid containers would be the best toy ever!
imitating talking on the phone
dancing
looking at books
trying to catch bubbles
going to the park
loves to wave and say hi..even if we are going bye!

He can sign for : more, eat, milk and all done

He says: mama, dada, hi, hot, woof, tweet, moo, neigh, baa, bathtime (not clear at all but is his newest word), elby (our dog Shelby), all done, get it

Follows simple commands: No, wait, where's your shoes, ball, zebra, puppy, duck, elmo.

They are like gloves at this age..soaking it all in and imitating everything they hear and see!

when my nephew was that age he was saying, Mama,Da Da,Eat, thank you,bye bye,hi,No,

He should just be figuring out how to put objects in stuff. for example Putting a ball in a box then taking it out again.

He should be shaking his head no and yes

waving hi and bye

clapping his hands

Pointing for things he wants

this is what my nephew knew at that age. he is now 2 1/2.

we also had some one come see him weekly from the state that checks child developement.
