I'm a native Ohioan, LDS, and lived in Ogden Utah for 3 and a half years. I've heard that southern Utah is different than the north.

The thing I missed most out west was the GREEN. In the summer, you never really notice the GREEN until you don't ave it any more.I said taht to my mom and she didn't understand, until she went back to Ohio, and then "AH! NOW I see what you mean!" I think it's just as dry in southern Utah as in the north. My skin got so dry, I could liteally hear it sucking in the moisture when I put Moisturizer on my arms and hands.

As for non-Mormons in Mormon Central, I odn't know about the south. Just be friendly, seek out other non-members, be neighborly, you should be all right

BTW, what part of Ohio?

Well, I have never been to Ohio, but I just moved to Salt Lake City a year ago from San Diego. Yes it is a big difference, but it has more to do with things closing earlier and stuff like that. I am not Mormon and I have met some pretty cool people who are.
It is nothing like what I thought. People told me I would have a hard time finding a job since I'm not Mormon and that is not true at all. In fact, there is a higher quantity of jobs for us out here and the cost of living is significantly lower. Plus I live in a beautiful area with great neighbors. The missionaries never bother us and I have not been treated different because I am agnostic. The schools are good, but you do have to pay certain fees which came as a shock to me (even in public school.)
We are planning on moving back to CA because we miss it too much, but I am going to miss the seasons the most. I have never seen how beautiful Autumn could truly be until I moved here. If you have any specific questions let me know.

The Institute is located near the Weber State Campus. There are many classes offered there, about the LDS faith. Some are classing about the various parts of the scriptures, some deal with church history. The LDS Institute program is geared toward LDS adults ages 18-30, the bulk of the program is for singles. There is also a program for the Married students in that age group as well. I think a previous poster gave you a link with more information. You don't have to be LDS to participate in Institute, as long as you remember that LDS Values are expected at the activities and LDS doctrine is taught in the classes. Similar programs are found all over the US and other parts of the world, according to the local needs. I have taken several institute classes, from the Logan institute as well as the Boise Institute. I enjoyed all of the classes. The last one I took, was Women in the Scriptures, I really liked that one. I believe it is offered at all institutes. There is one offered at the Ogden Institute called religions of the World. I started to take that one, but then my schedule changed and I did not take the whole thing. That was years ago, but I am sure it is still offered.

The smaller the town in Utah, the bigger the LDS percent. You may have a culture shock, Sundays the stores are closed.
