by her own choice. I had tears in my eye's because it WAS her choice. We had a great day and I just wanted to share it.

nortybirdy-I am not religeous at all. I was emotional because it was something she wanted to do. As a non-religeous person I would say 'up yours'! In a few years time, what would she regret? Meeting someone like you maybe.

That's happy news. I'm so sorry that you got all this negativity simply for wanting to share something special that you got to share with your grandaughter.

At 11 years old I would have happily been christened, I hadn't matured enough to think outside the box. I would be deeply distressed today if my parents had encouraged me to do such a thing though, as religion repulses me. I presume you are a religious person yourself from your obvious emotions on the subject. I'm pleased you had a great day, lets hope she doesn't regret it in a few years when she's grown up.

Wow, I was christianed when I was eleven too! My grandparents took me once and I found friends at the church and I liked everything about christianity - I teach the sunday school now. Well done for you're granddaughter - you have the perfect reason to be proud of her!

Well, in spite of all the remarks by the modern British pagans above, I think it is a lovely ceremony and part of the culture and traditions of our country. I am glad the family was there to support her.

I'm happy for you ......however, christening is not a biblical practice.
You may not want to hear that at this particular time.
