How long does elk freeze for?

I got an elk last hunting season and still have meat in the freezer I was told it will freeze up to 2 years but I don't know ?

I have kept mine in the freezer for about 14 months max. After that it's easy to tell it's going bad because it gets freezer burn, begins to dry out and ice forms inside the freezer bag. No way would I keep it 2 years though......
Regardless. I write the date it was frozen in permanent black marker on the outside of each bag so I can keep track of what kind of meat and how long it's been frozen.

Depends on how well it was sealed. I have had Seal_a_Meal packaged meat for 2 years and it was fine. However, if there is a hole in the package and it loses it's air seal, it may become freezer burned. The burn does not mean the meat it spoiled but it is freeze dried in that area and the ice crystals inside the meat expand and dry the meat out. The meat wont have much flavor as a result.

I have eaten freezer burned meat because I am a tight azz. I just Bar-B-Qued it and it was fine. Now, if it was green and fuzzy, even my tight azz wont eat it.

I've kept deer meat for over 4 years and it was still good. I only use plastic wrap and make sure it is stays at zero or colder. Meat in paper wrap starts to freezer burn after about 8 months.

I'm not sure usually it is all gone in six months around my house
but i would say until it is freezer burnt (not trying to be a smart *** but there are a lot a variables that i don't know)
