Ohio mom stopped to buy donuts on her way to work (before dropping 2 year-old daughter w/babysitter). She went directly to work and FORGOT her baby was in the car! She left the baby in the car for 8 hours!
The temperature was just about 100° outside the car! Inside the car, the temperature was 150°. The baby was essentially cooked to death.
The mother is wracked with guilt. Guilt is the key word here. She was not charged with any crime because of the laws in Ohio. What happened to "endangering the welfare of a minor," or "child neglect," or even better: "involuntary manslaughter?"
Too many people are feeling sorry for this mother. Where is the compassion for the baby that died? Where is the outrage at what that poor baby suffered for the 8 hours, or however long it took for her to die?
I KNOW, in my heart, I could never let that happen. If I DID forget, it sure wouldn't be for 8 hours. No job is that good to make me forget my baby's in a hot car. What do you think—jail; what & why?

1) I don't wish any violence to happen to this woman; that would be hypocritical, & I do not believe in violence.
2) Wisdom: if only people would change by bringing them into a church or temple — that would be wonderful. The jails would be empty & all would be right with the world. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. We also have separation of church & state in the U.S., so we can't do that. If she truly repents, God will forgive her; however, should we leave her free to have more kids & just move on, as if nothing happened?
Whether in a jail or a mental hospital for criminals, there are ministers, rabbis, etc. available for inmates to avail themselves of, if they are so inclined.
3) I agree w/the person who said the video of her seemed forced. I've seen it over & over. It "seems" like an act.
If anybody has ever seen a baby's coffin — it is soooo tiny! They are always white.
Thank you all, in advance, for all your answers, your thoughts & ideas are appreciated.

I saw this on the news a couple times. It was shocking.
Seemily this mother is totally mentally incompenent or got away with murder. Either way one would think an investigation
of both should take place. I could see unload the groceries,
and "Oh! I forgot my daugher!" But even that is giving benifit of doubt. Two years old are usually chatter boxes, I can't see
how any one can be this forgetful. Nor the fact that no one saw the child in the car! How could you remember to stop for donuts!! and forget your child. None of it makes sence to me.
If it was a dog, the humane society and animal rights members would be radical.

I'm not perfect and I can understand that someone may forget to take the baby to the sitters but to not realize that she's in the car is ridiculous. Unless she was blind and deaf she couldn't have forgotten what was right in front of or should I say behind her. On the chance that her daughter was completely silent the whole drive and didn't stir at all when she got out of her car. I'm sure she used her rear view mirror at SOME point in her drive to work or glanced to the side and caught sight of the back seat while changing lanes. Then to say it didn't dawn on her at some point during her 8 hr. shift as her thoughts drifted to her daughter's face or when she thought about the schedule for the rest of her day that she didn't go to drop off her daughter. It was such a sad fate for her daughter and if not jail time then she should at least never be able experience the joy of being a parent again! To me that would be an even worse punishment.

if you don't call the police....YOU should be arrested! There was a story in the paper a few years back... A dad had to take the baby to daycare out of the blue because the mom had something come up. He forgot that the baby was in the car and went to work. It was summer. The baby suffocated after suffering intolerable heat stroke and probably crying itself sick. The dad is still in prison. And that was an accident. So intentionally leaving a baby in the car would be even worse, whether or not the baby dies. I'm appalled you haven't turned her in yet! She's a phycho... no wonder her other kids are messed up. Tell her to get her tubes tied if she doesn't want kids.

Given the fact that she has done it before I think that she should be seen by a professional therapist. A "normal" person might have done it once, for a few minutes, but more than once, and for EIGHT HOURS?
I do think that she should be punished, but is losing a child enough? And the way that the child died? Wouldn't the knowledge of how it happened be a worse punishment than anything the government could dish out?
Lets face it people, we're human, and humans make mistakes, and some of those mistakes are biggies, some of us get caught and some of us don't.
Unless you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt (after listening to the evidence), that this woman did this with premeditation, I feel that at least some compassion is warranted.

I absolutely feel that idiot should be prosecuted for her complete incompetance. If for nothing else, neglect. Who forgets their baby in the car? I am far from a perfect parent, we all are simply learning as we go and doing the best we can, but this was not the first time this woman had forgot her child in the car. If it were me, I would want to be put to death. Who could live with the guilt? That poor baby. It breaks my heart.

I feel she should be charge with something, possibly negligent homicide or at the very least neglect. I do not have sympathy for this woman. Especially since it's been reported that this was not the first time she left her child unattended in a vehicle. Yes we are all human beings but I just cannot fathom how one could "forget" their child. The concept just doesn't register with me. This was not a purse or a cell phone forgotten in the car, it was a child. At least she'll have to live with the knowledge and guilt that her own negligence killed her baby.

Yes she should go to jail. How could she FORGET her child in her car. Does anyone honestly think it didn't register to her that she didn't stop at the sitters and that her child didn't make a single sound on the drive? I have 3 children and have never forgot on my way anywhere no matter what the rush that they were in the vehicle. I find that practically impossible. As far as I'm concerned she murdered her daughter and should be charged with it.

sad to hear that the woman got out scot free. iguess its time for someone to rewrite ohio laws that woman should have been done soemthing to. the baby suffered and it was so hot it must have been awful. she forgot now have you ever heard of such a thing? well i think that was her defense i t was sick and i guess if we put her in jail and forgot to feed her it wouldn't be bad right? i really dislike peole treating their kids so bad but its been going on since beginning of time its just not so known as it is now with the the media we have out there. get the statet o help or represenative to change these lawys and help the kids of that state.

YES!!!! I have been saying this ever since i heard that it happened, i even watched the video where she was apparently crying, when i watched it, it seemed forced, if at all! She didn't care about her kid, she either needs to be in jail or duct taped inside a hot car with all the windows rolled up and left in the desert, let her suffer the way that poor little baby did, She is a monster.

I dont feel sorry for her. She needs to be charged with something...at the very least child neglect. She remembered the donuts but forgot about her child? What she did was neglect plain and simple. This was not the first time she had left that baby alone in a hot car, I believe it was the 3rd time!! That shows a pattern of neglect. Sadly her child paid the ultimate price for moms neglect.
