What I think Nicole is I bet anything your not stupid probably confused, or just feel over welmed I think you should just hang in there and relize theres so much information in the world ull never learn it all and when you set your mind or heart on something youll eventually be good at it if not great, and as an example I started studing computers a couple years ago in were I work there were guys making high paying money n they always working around computers n were complete amatures at using them I even helped them figure things out and gave advice on different brands if they were to buy them, so I think your maybe just in some stiff competition maybe or around smart people that have a edge on u as of now hang in there things will brighten up n I promise u ur not stupid ur brain will remember things as you go just learn from your mistakes, its not easy out there hang in there good luck sweety ull do fine oh yea my opinion also would be dont get on anti depressents they'll just make things worse as long as u keep trying and have love for people n humanity who cares what other people say or think about you if its negative u don't need to be around those type of people there no beter than you.

Actually, the "weak-minded" bits you mention....things like troubles with short-term memory, concentration, maybe not getting enough sleep no matter *how* you try...these are all very *real* physical symptoms of depression.

I'd go to the doctor anyway, and I'd *tell him* exactly what you're saying here, including your concern about your parents finding out. Doctors, particularly of a psychiatric sort, *are* legally obligated in most states to *report* problems if they can lead to the abuse or neglect of a minor child. I know, it sounds bad, to put it that way, but what it means is that the doctor in question *Cannot* legally let your parents interfere with your treatment for depression. If your parents interfere and *if* you stand up for yourself (hard to do, I know!) and tell the doctor, the doctor *has to report it*.

And, once you *do* see a doctor and get on some medications and therapy for your problems, you *will* be less "weak-minded" and in the grip of depression. Meaning you will have more strength in you to stand up for yourself and do what's right.

So...I know it sounds scary and like something you don't want to do, but....go to a doctor. Tell him the *full truth*. He has to protect your privacy if you're not in any danger, and if you *are* in any danger, from your family or anyone else, *he has to* report it, to help you. Either way it is a win-win for you.

I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck in healing from this *very real* and legitimate illness. ^_^

If your doctor tells your parents, you will be rich from sueing for breach of trust.

Try acting as though you are strong and very wise. And that does not mean being snobby. You are hurting yourself by saying you are weak and stupid. The more you think it, the more you will be it. That goes both ways ...

You should talk to your doctor about this.He may give you some advice on how to approach your parents, and that alone Can make you feel safe.Otherwise your going to continue to suffer alone and that is not good. You should always go to a professional if you have any questions about your health.

try telling your friends, the ones you trust, so once you tell someone you can start to feel more confident and eventually be able to tell your family why your depressed. Its better to let someone know so they can help you in some way rather than just holding it in.

maybe you just need a change in ur routine and that will trigger the change in yourself. I was feeling homesick last semester, in college, and that made me very depressed. I just wanted someone to talk to, but all my friends were overseas.

if you need someone to talk to, a perfect stranger might help.
email me sometime, and dont be nervous (strictly platonic).

I hope this helps,
cheers

Your doctor is prevented from telling your parents unless you give him/her permission. He can loose his medical license if he betrays your confidence or medical state to anyone.

Go to your doctor and tell him/her they are professionals and will do what is needed to help you.
