adjust your fridge control to raise the temp just a tad and if the fridge has a humidity control adjust it to remove more moisture, thus decreasing the chance for freezing the lettuce. Romaine lettuce is suceptible to freezing just by it's nature as the leaves allow airflow to circulate between them. Lettuce should be kept in the crisper drawer at the bottom compartment of the fridge, preferably in a sealed container or large bag with airtight seal .....i.e. Ziplock bag
PS...... most people replying are mistaken (which is easy to do) ... instead of the setting being too high and needing to be lowered, the opposite is true..... think about it.

Lettuce shouldn't be washed until right before use. If you are washing it before you put it in there, then it has absorbed some water and that is causing it to freeze.

Otherwise check the dial inside your fridge it might be set too cold. Keep the lettuce in the crisper drawer also.

first make sure you remove the lettuce from the the produce bag, as that will also make it hold in humidity/ wetness and cause it to freeze if the refrigerator is too cold

secondly make sure that your refrigerator setting is not too cold. you should have it on number 3 that is the recommended setting. if the lettuce is wet and the refrigerator is too cold that will cause it to freeze.

thirdly you should keep the lettuce in the crisper drawer. that drawer helps control the wetness/humidity in vegatables and fruits so they do not get too wet and start to get rotten.

Your Fridge is too high! Cut the settings down and try wrapping your lettuce in brown paper bags to shield against the cold.

Bring your lettuce closer to the front of the fridge. Keep the back for beer/sodas.

The cooling elements to your fridge is in the back, and if you use your fridge a lot, they are constantly going.

Try placing your lettuce only in the 'crisper drawer' and lower the setting on your fridge as well. I had mine so high at one point that I would put meat in my fridge to defrost overnight and the next day it would still be frozen. :)
