surely not what christians say their god feels towards them -- that is just a pathetic contradiction in terms: unconditional, yet you have to fear... him, hell (great invention that one!, have to admit it), and obey(!!!), and come to church to find him 'cos it, sorry - he doesn't exist anywhere else but there..
^-^ it's like.. try explaining pantheism to a catholic! he'll answer: blasphemy!
good thing we don't still live in middle ages (though not that far away... ;)), or i'd get burned to the stake for being a witch! (? ... - true.)
unconditional means without condition, no matter what..! it's reliable, strong, pure. it's within the essence of everything that surrounds us, as well as inside each .. it is always the seed; unfortunately doesn't always manifest!, doesn't grow into a beautiful in bloom tree. remains just a seed, dries, and falls to dust.
unconditional love is warm, and soft, more pure than the rain drops; has a sweet scent, though is scent-colour free.
it veils one in smiles, and tenderness.
though it's like a chant, you're serious abt it. it keeps you self assured. it keeps you safe from harm.
it guides you in your sorrow moments
it is the hand you reach out to, the hand that doesn't let go!!

It's an easy question for a Christian to answer who is showing you some respect. I don't like some of the answers you got either.
You can produce what God calls 'unconditional love' by producing it through a lot of scriptural study, the result meaning that God cares for those who trust Him. Or I can show you 1 Corinthians 13, the so called 'love' chapter.
Here it is if you want to think about it:
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2013;&version=31;
Basically, without love we are nothing. We might sound nice, but we are actually empty. We when actually have love for people certain things show up; we don't count wrongs, we give to others more generously, we are not easily angered, we do not do things that are considered evil to people, we rejoice in truth and take no delight in what is false. That last part has to do with what we see here. To passively ignore wrong is NOT showing love. That doesn't mean we have to rant about everything, but by standing against wrong we make examples of ourselves, and that can set things right with the people who love truth also.
So where there is error, we are to show it. We may not be perfect in what we Christians do, but we are opening ourselves to God's will, because we recognize He is the source for both truth and love.

Yeah, I had/still have/ a faith in people, and I felt/still feel/ that unconditional love you are talking about, when you don't ask or wish anything in return- it's called close friendship, but in my case- that feelings are always spoiled because the other party eventually ends it up drenched in jealousy and infatuation. The only unconditional love which I was able to determine and to prove to be the same in the both direction , is the one I feel towards my child. Everything else is pure "poetry", if you get me.

This is a great question. I have to go back to God (of course). I know you dont want to hear it, but my personal beliefs hold that God is the one that created love, therefore He is the epitome of it.
The secular answer I can give you is that unconditional love is the ability to completely accept your loved one without any expectations they are going to be perfect or they are going to fufill your every need and they will disappoint you but your heart is so full of complete love for them. This is easy for parents, it is most definitely harder when dealing with other adults. Peace.

Two things.
1. Holding to the maxim that you cannot judge another unless you know all the causes that lead to his or her actions, and realising that you can never know all of those causes, so you can never judge. In Christianity, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." probably the least followed commandment of all.
2. Becoming more aware of how interconnected and interdependant everything is, and taking the time to find out how your own actions affect others, even if it is five or six steps removed. I realise, for example, that society is a costruct from which we as individuals are supposed to gain mutual benefit. I also realise that, if a section of the society is not gaining those benefits, they will no longer value the society and destabilise it, which would impact on me. It follows then, that socialy inclusive acts like charity, socialism and the like actually hold as much of a benefit to me as to the person receiving it.
Nothing happens in isolation.

Unconditional love is loving regardless of actions or deeds. It's being incapable of feeling anything but unwavering love.

if i do choose God then you have no idea what unconditional love really is.
also my family.
no matter what i've done in the past or in the future...their love for me will never change. if it does change...it will grow stronger.

Loving no matter what. I guess that is the simplest answer and probably would be most inclusive.
