Not true. However, if they are subject to Cobra, they are required to offer you the opportunity to keep the insurance for up to 18 months, AT YOUR COST. That means, you have to pay 102% of the premium, not them, but you keep the policy.
If you have maternity coverage on your group policy (not all do!), it would be worth it to elect the Cobra option.

No, its not even close to being true.
As the others have suggested, you may have the option for COBRA. (assuming your company met the criteria for COBRA eligibility) That would be your best bet at this point, for the most part.
COBRA is expensive, but so is childbirth. Unless your maternity coverage was so awful under your employer plan that you'd end up paying most of the cost yourself out of pocket anyhow, you should definitely elect COBRA.
(I lost my job when I was 6 months pregnant. Luckily, I was able to be added to my husband's insurance - ended up having an emergency c-section and can't even begin to imagine what I would have owed had that happened uninsured. Yikes! You never know what's going to happen throughout your pregnancy/delivery - if you have the option for COBRA, you're probably better off taking it.)

No, although they probably have to offer you COBRA - this is a law that says you can continue in the group plan for 6 months after leaving the company, whether you quit or were laid off. You have to pay for it though, the company doesn't.
What you think you heard isn't correct.

If the company does not qualify for COBRA due to it's size, you may qualify for a Portability policy.

Only if you pay the premiums. That includes the portion your employer was paying before. Ask about COBRA.

Unless you had a termination agreement that stated that they will pay for your insurance, then you will have to sign up and pay for COBRA.
