Feeling like you are nobody puts you in good company. The apostles were all nobodies too. And they all made mistakes, just like everyone else. Mother Teresa once said if God could find someone more useless than her, He would do even greater things through that person than He did through her.
God has a purpose for everyone's life. It may be big or it may be small, but He has one. When you pray, ask God what He would like you to do for Him RIGHT NOW.

I understand what you mean. When I was 25 I new that God had a call on my life for something special. Now I am 55 and it has not happened yet, but it will, God keeps assuring me that what He has promised will come to pass. This is also not a call to be famous, just something special for me to do. Just be patient with yourself and enjoy your life. He will make it happen in His time. Everyday put your trust in Him and know that you are in His hands. He has something important for you to do each and every day. Just to be kind to someone that needs it is important to Him. It is best to feel like a nobody, because you will not get too big headed, you will probably go through some humiliation also. It will not be easy reaching your purpose, but it will be fulfilling. Just draw as close as you can each day and realize that you are just that much closer to seeing your purpose come to pass.

You're a Christian - so firstly, I presume you've prayed about this? Continue! You will be shown the way...in God's good time. It might start with something very simple and to you seemingly unconnected with these prayers. For example, you might be interested in pursuing a particular subject for further study, but feel at the moment you have to wait for guidance. Couldn't your own interests and preferences and enthusiasms be part of God's way of guiding you onto the path he has planned for you? We don't always get a dramatic revelation like St Paul on the Damascus road, you know! Sometimes God guides us by our own talents and abilities to the purpose of our lives.
Secondly, and this follows from what I've written above, don't keep focusing on God's purpose so that it shuts out everything else and you miss the signposts He gives you. Live your life. Once you've asked for guidance, believe God will honour your prayer and that it will be answered. By all means continue to pray for it, but don't agonise over it. That really demonstrates a lack of faith that God has heard you, and is faithful to His promise that he will answer.
Live the life God has given, and let him guide you as you do. If there's something in particular that you want to pursue, do it. See where it leads. You might be surprised!
God bless, and help you to see His guiding hand and purpose for your life.

Concerning your low self esteem. As a Christian you need to understand God's love for you and your position in God's family. Get a crucifix. Meditate upon it for about 15 minutes a day for a month. Just keep it at your desk. Realize that this crucifix is about something very real. We're dealing with reality here. Jesus gave himself, he sacrificed himself, died for your sins. You have been redeemed because of God's love. And Jesus would have done it again even if it was just for you. You are now a child of God. You a member of a select family. It may sound impossible, but God paid a dear price for you.
Now about your purpose. Seek truth all your life. Practice love at all times. And relish beauty everywhere it is to be found in the world. Always be in awe of the beauty that God has provided for you. In doing so, you will grow closer to God. And God's purpose for you will find you.

Ecclesiastes 5
18 Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him—for this is his lot.
19 Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work—this is a gift of God.
20 He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.
Ecclesiastes 7
14 When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider:
God has made the one
as well as the other.
Therefore, a man cannot discover
anything about his future.
15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these:
a righteous man perishing in his righteousness,
and a wicked man living long in his wickedness.
16 Do not be overrighteous,
neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?
17 Do not be overwicked,
and do not be a fool—
why die before your time?
18 It is good to grasp the one
and not let go of the other.
The man who fears God will avoid all extremes .

Have you tried reading "The Purpose Driven Life?" Go buy the book... it is full of sage advice on how to find out God's purpose for your life.
But keep in mind that we do not know the future.... and our minds want a clean-cut, completely accurate, fully-disclosed plan laid out for us... a map if you will... and that isn't how it works. Life is messy - and sometimes we make mistakes... but I always look at the life of Jacob... who made mistake after mistake... and God STILL fulfilled a purpose in his life...
In fact... you can pick just about any biblical hero (Moses, David, Jacob, Peter) and see that God turned their mistakes into miracles.... I think the secret to finding your "purpose" is to take everything to God in prayer... and ask that He lead the way.... and then live your life. You will make mistakes... but learn from them, find the lesson, and move forward.

I think the world puts too much pressure in making people feel like they have to have a special purpose....this causes stress
i do not think we always have a special purpose....sometimes we are just expected by god to be nice people, and love others, and help others find god
just follow your heart..do what makes you happy

Regardless of life experience, the Lord sees us all the same. After all, it's the heart He seeks.
As for finding your way, ask Jesus to guide you and then just walk in faith. Like Peter, you have to do the walking part, the rest will come.
Knowing ahead of time, exactly what God's plans are, is to set yourself up to be equal with God. Let Him do the guiding, step by step.

Honey there are no big I's or little U's In the Kingdom Of God. As far as your calling...What grips your heart ? If you will ask God He make It known to you. But as Christians our number 1 thing Is to seek God first. God gives people a true passion to bring about what He's called them to do. I love Bible Prophecy and Preaching The WhOLE WORD OF GOD. Helping others who are In need. What touches your heart ? ASk yourself these things...God will reveal them to you...

I feel the same thing sometimes (especially recently), its not a mentality problem or that God doesn`t exist. Help your self for God to help you, ever heard the story of the drowning man?
A man was drowning, he was praying for God to come and save him, soon enough a boat came and wanted to save him, he told them that God was coming to save him. The boat left and soon enough a helicopter come to save him. He told them that God was coming to save him. The man drownded, God came twice but he didn`t accept help.
Think, do you have something you`re good at, or maybe an experience which makes you different?
If this does not help you pray for help.
