The best thing to give her is your respect. Act like there is nothing wrong with her., Oh, you ask her how she is doing today. But she wants to hear good news that a normal 13 year old would normally hear. You know:gossip, who's going with whom' the Hollywood stars, and music. Try and be upbeat, this is the best you can give her.

Be her friend & let her talk to you & make sure she knows you are there for her but whatever you do "Don't pity her"!!! She needs positive people around her now, so encourage her & be there for her if she needs someone to talk to when she's going through her treatment. It won't be a "Bed of Roses", but just remember that "Cancer" isn't necessarily a "Death Sentence"!
Good Luck~

Leukemia is treatable and sometimes curable. So encourage her to follow her treatments (chemotherapy) and do whatever you can to boost her spirit up. But hey... Don't treat her in a pity way!

Hold her hand. Say you are sorry she has to go through all of this and that she is an important friend to her and you don't like to see her hurt. Let her talk anyway she wants. Hold her hand. If she or you should cry, that's okay.
