For the first time in history Turkish MP speaks of Armenian Genocide recognition
----------------------------------------------
In an interview with journalist Raffí Arax recently, Turkish MP Mehmet Ufuk Uras said, "We committed a terrible massacre against Armenians and Turkey must recognize it. It’s not important how we name this calamity: genocide, ethnic purification, etc. The most important thing is that a terrible massacre was committed and it is undeniable.”

“We must face up to the history, bandage the wounds, develop the relations with Armenia, defend our Armenian compatriots and restore what was the property of their ancestors. I come from the area of Durig close to Sebastia where I heard the truth from my parents,” he said.

“We are confident that with the negationism will drive to nothing,” he resumed.

to blunt-I run :
That's right, there should be enough freedom for any idea and thought, BUT not denying the fact, consider Iran's president denying the holocaust, would you say "there is freedom in Iran"?!
Does denying the fact make a nation free?!

Dear Turkish friends, thank you all for answering.
I read this, and I was really surprised, so I wanted to know also your ideas, but I saw that some of you got angry on this, there was no need for that, because I just asked "What's your idea?"....!

By the way "turki bilmiram"! I couldn't read that link!

But it seems that the newspaper says he has denied what he has said, if so, I wouldn't surprise. It's the normal thing in Turkey, that has also happened for other Turk writers and intellectuals...

I don't really know why you get emotional on this, I just wanted your idea on this news.

Manisalibo,
I never said what I think about Turks, and I didn't say we are angles...

I ask for you idea on this topic and I receive non-related answers...
I don't know why ?!

to "turkey forever":
1st of all your speech is not an answer to my Q., but an effort of denial of genocide.
2. I see no truth in your claims, but EVEN IF SO, do you mean the "Turkish blood" is more important than Armenian blood???
Don't you think humans all are equal in creation???
EVEN IF we consider you're right, does it change anything about the genocide?!

Nice job sweetie!

You are greatly mistaken. We have this country absolutely under our control. I have no desire to shift the blame onto our underlings and I am entirely willing to accept the responsibility myself for everything that has taken place.
Enver Pasha

I am ashamed of my Nation.
Cemal Pasha

I refer to those awful massacres. They are the greatest stain that has ever disgraced our nation and race. They were entirely the work of Talat and Enver.
Prince Abdul Mecid

They decided to exterminate the Armenians, and they did exterminate them.
Mustafa Arif

one million Armenians were killed in these lands and nobody but me dares to talk about it.
Orhan Pamuk

These left-overs from the former Young Turk Party, who should have been made to account for the millions of our Christian subjects who were ruthlessly driven en masse, from their homes and massacred, have been restive under the Republican rule.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

amazing....

and to answer that girl's question about why armenia refused to meet with turkey and historians is as follows...

Us organizing a meeting with Turkey is pointless because the Turkish government is well aware of the truth of the ARMENIAN GENOCIDE which their ancestors were guilty of. If we meet up with the turkish government, that would show that we are DOUBTING it ever even happened. On top of all that, Turkey has burned most of the legal documents from it's libraries which had to do with the genocide and the records of the people they killed. This way...they will "open" their files from the years of the genocide...and just like magic...there wont be much in there! It just doesn't work the way you think it does ....there's more to it as you can see.

I can't find any supporting articles in English or Turkish. Do you have a link?

Can it change anything? all the world should make their accusations and confessions in a formal independent court and then close the book. Like The Truth And Reconciliation Commission of South Africa.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_and_Reconciliation_Commission_(South_Africa)
It wasn't perfect but it was far better than any other example set forward by (Chile and Argentina have done similar things) anyone else. America is still denying racism and the effects of slavery, and I didn't forget the native Americans, Vietnam ....
The Germans stored their Nazi gold in Switzerland and the Swiss are more than happy to hide it for them still... The Dutch and the Congo; the kings personal game reserve including 'natives.' You finish the list... you are all better educated about these things than me.
I have no idea what happened between Armenia and the Turks.... but throwing accusations and denials around is obviously not working.

Dear Vahe,

So what ?
This is Turkiye, Everyone can be believe, if they want ...
Somepeople likes to believe lie, someone does not believe the lie ..

I am writing, what happened on 24 April 1915, again,

APRIL 24, 1915
The Ottoman government, against numerous rebellions that began after 1890 and promptly following Armenian massacres which resulted in the murder of tens of thousands of Turks, contented with informing most important persons of Armenian congregation and Armenian deputies that "Government will take the necessary precautions if Armenians continue to stab in the back and assassinate the Turks". However, it became a necessity to secure behind the borders because the army was in war at various fronts, the events did not stop but increased and assaults towards defenseless Turkish women and children increased.

With this aim, on April 24, 1915 the Armenian Committees were closed and 2345 of their directors were arrested due to the crime of carrying out activities against the government. April 24, which is commemorated annually as the "Anniversary of Armenian Massacre" by the Armenians abroad is this date when the 2345 revolutionary committee members were arrested and it has no relation with deportation.

However, the Armenian revolutionary committee members who propagandize even the unfounded events by exaggeration, promptly made a move to propagandize these mentioned arrests. As a matter of fact, Ecmiyazin Catholicos Kevork sent the telegraph below to the President of USA:

"Dear President, according to the last news we got from Turkish Armenia, the massacre began there and an organized terror endangered the presence of the Armenian people. At this critical moment, I am addressing to the noble feelings of your Excellency and great American Nation and in the name of humanity and Christianity belief requesting you to promptly interfere by means of your great Republic's diplomatic representatives and protect my people in Turkey who are left to violence of the Turkish fanaticism.

Kevork, Archbishop and Catholicos of all Armenians."

Pursuant to the telegraph of Archbishop Kevork, Russia's Washington Ambassador got in contact with USA and thus, April 24, which is the day when Armenian committee members dealing with illegal works were arrested was propagandized to world's public opinion as "the day on which Turks massacred Armenians".

well done thanks for bringing it up its odd for a fellow Armo to trawl up evidence not pointing to Genocide. did you look in the dictionary to see the difference between massacre and genocide.

and massacre stands for both Turkish and Armenian sides

Hey Alana . I can vouch for Tanju , No offence to Tanju but the english grammar and spelling is better than his and mine so I am 100% sure that it was copied and not written by himself.

Now that you people ask many questions and expect some answers i have another question for you:

Why Armenian gouvernment doesn't want to go to supreme court with Turkey (although Turkey offered it. We offered to open all the cases) with historians?

Does this ( not accepting our offer) mean that Armenia is hiding something?
Because we made you an offer and your gouvernment didn't even move a finger so tell me what is going on here?

I did not read anything like what you quoted. Ufuk Uras denied your allegations. It seems that you are beginning to forget your first language, Turkish. Go and read what he said in Aksam newspaper.
And ask yahoo for an Armenian section. Leave us alone.

Now let's talk about the MP's in Armenian parliament, who can talk about opposite views to the official view of Armenia. Or in France?

Guess that makes our country freer than both Armenia and France, wouldn't you say?

He denies what the site wrote. I believe him because you Armenians even montaged Ataturk's photograph with puppies and turned the little doggies into dead bodies (?!?!)

It has been long since you've lost your credibility before our eyes. Why did you ask this question anyway? Do you want me to pretend to be shocked and bow before you telling you that I am obediently accepting what your false propaganda preaches? If so, I congratulate you for your incredible optimism.
