Let's see what the Bible has to say about meditation--what are we to meditate on exactly?
Joshua 1:8, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and THEN thou shalt have good success."
Psalms 1:2, "But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."
Psalms 77:12, "I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings."
Psalms 119:15, "I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways."
Psalms 119:23b , "... thy servant did meditate in thy statutes."
Psalms 119:48, "My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes."
Psalms 119:78b, "...I will meditate in thy precepts."
Psalms 119:78, "Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts."
Psalms 119:148, "Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word."
Psalms 143:5, "I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands."
Paul speaking to Timothy says to meditate upon good doctrine and the calling (prophecies) which God has gifted him with--
1 Timothy 4:15, "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all."
It is very, very clear that we are to meditate UPON something--
God's statutes
God's laws
God's works
God's precepts
God's word
The scripture is very, very clear--
Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
No Christian should be blanking out their minds believing they are falsely "waiting on God"--
we are commanded to be in control of our mind and our thoughts--not give it over to some unknown entity--
2 Corinthians 10:5, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"
Our thoughts must line up in obedience to Christ Jesus--not the other way around--God is not our errand boy!
Oprah is not and never has lived a Christian life. She only says she's "christian" because to do otherwise may cost her a few points in ratings and a few million dollars.
I don't believe "the universe" or some etheral unknown grants me my desires by wishing hard enough for them. That's foolishness.
GOD Almighty is my source--my source of peace, love, joy, goodness, righteousness AND prosperity.
To look outside of God to ourselves or something else to prosper us is contemptable to God.

I don't meditate but I do understand the concepts of The Secret's Law of Attraction and have achieved success with it. Actually, the Law of Attraction has been taught by ardent men of God like Napoleon Hill to present day Bob Proctor and others I can't recall at the moment but who are easily researched. Bob Proctor has a website and has written many books, one in particular being, "You Were Born Rich," among others.
They teach that God said, "Seek and ye shall find; ask and ye shall receive," and the Law of Attraction is His path to achieving this success.
Then, for those who aren't religious, there's Oprah's encouragement of following the guidelines laid out in "The Secret" (a bestselling book and/or DVD about changing your life for the better). And here is one instance where you can't say it's all bunk! I mean, ... LOOK AT OPRAH! She's living, breathing proof that the Law of Attraction works!
And so am I, but it isn't easy. It's not always easy to forget about droning and moaning about the past and worrying about the future. There are cliches you hear all the time that thwart your efforts to make "the secret" work for you; things like,
- "you never get anything without hard work."
- "money is the root of all evil."
- "you can't get something for nothing."
- life is tough and you've got to keep your nose to the grindstone.
- if you don't have everything you want, you probably don't want it bad enough.
That's negative crap that will slow down your efforts to improve your life.
I suggest agnostics like myself, and other non-religious guys and girls check out this non-religious site:

for more info.
And hey! Good luck changing your life! It's fun and astounding!

For those that don't know, Oprah has recently put her weight behind a book called "The Secret" and the idea is that people need only visualize what they want in order to get it.
The only person who visualized great wealth using the secret and got it was the author of the book!

Many people have tried to discredit the Secret and meditation, saying it is not biblical... and conflicts with Christianity.
I submit this for your perusal:
"Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsover things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtuue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
Meditation and The Secret in a nutshell....

Funny you should ask. I'm presenting on just that topic on Paltalk on 9/18. E-mail me if you'd like to sit in.
I will be showing that the "Law of Attraction", which the Secret is based on, comes from a "spirit guide" cluster that calls itself Abraham and is channelled by Esther Hicks, who co wrote the book "The Law of Attraction" with her husband.
I will be showing that the philosophies of Abraham are directly opposed to what God says in the Bible and how this philosophy is the same age old lie of Satan that he used on Eve in Eden.
BTW, the meditation spoken of in the Bible, where we deeply contemplate God's word is NOT the same thing as the transcendental meditation of the Law of Attraction, which is used to communicate with one's "spirit guide".
Such communication opens the way for demons to influence our minds and take possession of us. It is nothing to be trifled with. God's word forbids "channeling" practices like this, for the purposes of our own protection.
