yes!
a shy girl's biggest worry is how to talk to the guy she likes, having to hang out with him means she has to think of things to say without sounding stupid but instead looking intelligent and witty. She has to think of what to wear so that he notices how she looks. She will be, in short terrified.
here's something that I've always felt, but I don't knwo if it applies to other girls: if you feel uncomfortable and nervous about hanging out with a guy its either because you like him, or becaue you know he likes you and is to obvious and you're too scared to say anything to warn him to back off. If a girl likes a guy in a platonic way she will have nothing to be scared of because there''s mo feeligns there to make things difficult.

LOL I oftentimes IGNORE the guy I like, because I'm afraid to do something stupid. So, yes, shy girls are usually afraid to initially start hanging out with the guys they like. But don't mistake shy and uninterested. I've had guys continue to pursue me because they thought I was shy and not uninterested.

Yep they don't want to say anything stupid when their around or act immature so they may hangout with you witha friend to help add points to the conversation, but not all girls are like that some are bold and will just go for it, so if you know she likes you and you like her just be the one to approach her that way she'll be less nervous.

Well duh.
Anyone who is shy would feel uncomfortable hanging out with someone they don't normally hang out with a lot. Whether it's a crush or not.....it's still weird to them.

yes, they are. i myself am a very shy girl... the bad kind of shy where it's even hard for me to talk to a guy i like. we're just scared we'll do something dumb or wrong and make a fool out of our self. see i'm shy and dorky... so yeah =/ good luck =)

it's not just girls!
this guy likes me and i like him and we have had a thing for a while but he's scared to hang out with me. legit. he's only asked me out once. i did all the work the other times.

yes. Try and strike up a conversation that has nothing to do with relationships to get her out of her shell

yup.i used to be that way too.some people are shy/withdrawn cause they're afraid for people(especially guys)to get to know them.just go up to her and start talking to her.let her know you are friendly and don't want to hurt her emotionally.

It 's complicated... She wants to be with the guy, but see gets so scared and overwhelmed, and pulls away ar the same time. She wants him, but she is scared!
