I have been recently diagnosed with an anxiety and depression disorder. I have had it for years and it has started to affect my daily life. I am in college and already feel overwhelmed this year. I'm taking medicince and going to a counselor but I think the medicine might be making it worse. And if I do need to take some time off would be able to get my scholarships back?

You need to go to the college counselling office, they can answer your questions.

When I was in college I went through a period of severe depression and anxiety. I was having a lot of trouble with school because of it. My school allowed me to take a medcal leave of absence (I needed to get a letter from my psychiatrist explaining why I needed time off from school). With that leave, my scholarship was suspended until I returned to school, and was then available for me when I did return. The thing is, it was a scholarship given by the school. Each school is different, so you need to speak with your academic advisor. If you really are having a difficult time, you're better off taking some time to get yourself better and then return to school than to do poorly because of your depression. I wish you the best of luck.

if your are in your 20s stick it out as you will make friends for sure as there are alot of students in the same boat as you. You may not see them past all the crowds but they will come out of the woodwork - you can spot them easily in a class or lecture theatre. Some of this is normal and you need to understand and accept that. Most of us have mortality and bleed - when you share and get to know enough people you can see that side of them too.

Life is hard enough without making it harder. Get your mind and health together, college will always be there later. So will the money when you're ready.

Feel better, look into daily affirmations and positive psychology.

The meds will definitely drop your grades a lot. Then you will still not be in recovery. Take the time and do it right. Depression is all about false hopes in life.

You need to ask those questions at the registrars office, as well as considering dropping to part time for a semester to alleviate stress.

I am not sure about the scholarships, but you need to do whatever it takes to get yourself back into order and take care of yourself.
