OK, stop dividing christians into all these "sub - units", they all have one thing in common and that is they all believe in something which is not there. Evolution IS a christian - atheist debate, it always has been and it always will be. The fact that you say that a certain amount of people from a certain religion accepts evolution, holds absaloutley NO truth, where is your evidence from this? I'm atheist and so are you (I think), so I hope you understand that you need proof and facts before you can suggest all these percentage theories of yours.
If your interested in that kind of thing then you should do one of those poll things.

You've been misinformed in the US there are half as many Catholics as Protestants;:
http://www.adherents.com/adh_dem.html
Protestant 18 150,944,000 53 %
Catholic 2 69,776,000 24.5 %
And by the way, I'm an ex-Catholic who is an evolutionary creationist. Figure that out!

Nice rant.
"You are not going to convince me that less than 1% of the population could beat the vast majority of Christians politically." I am sorry...but attempts to be "politically correct" do allow for errors.

I think the most important point to make is that evolution is a scientific issue, not a religious one. It is vital to be objective when conducting research. There are, of course, scientists who believe in God and are capable of keeping an objective mind set. I have no problem with them. Unfortunately the loud fundamentalist minority pretends that their so called creationist "scientists" are on an equal footing. They spread misinformation and the gullible American public swallow it hook line and sinker.

Your absolutely correct. It's a creationist versus evolution debate. I never understood why any christian thinks disproving evolution would be a victory for christianity. Would it also help Islam? Heck it could be Zeus if it's not evolution. So I never understood why it's such a big point for some christians.

Where are you getting these statistics? Some statistics show that almost 15% of people in America are atheists. Polls vary, but NONE show them nearly as low as 1%.

I do grow weary of people thinking I'm an atheist because I believe in evolution... I mean I'm a freakin polytheist for gods sake.

agree with you somewhat , sorry , after reading the rest , i agree with you mostly
but your logic of right and wrong is abit off.
numbers cannot be used to determine whats right and wrong .. evidence is the thing..
edit :
evolution as far as i know , isnt used to disprove the possibilty of god .
creationist hate it because they believe human appear overnight and not evolutions and thats against what they believed in.
the other possible reason is they hate to be classified with animals?
i mean is it really so hard to believe God can create mankind through evolution ?

Excellent point. It really shows the stupidity of Creationists when they refuse to accept science which even the Vatican ('AIDS can fit through holes in condoms') freely acknowledges as truth.
Star for you!

Creationists are idolaters (they worship the Bible) who fight tooth and nail to defend the Doctrine of Biblical Literalism, and will ignore any moral lesson in the Bible in their struggle against reality. Most Christians prefer to obey the moral lessons.
