You have to see a doctor and a therapist, unfortunalty, they do not go away on their own. I learned that the hard way. I take celexa for them, and i felt better within 2 weeks. The only thing that will stop them right away is xanax or ativan.

panic attacks are caused by a sudden release of the hormone adrenaline, the good news is that adrenaline is short acting, 15 minutes tops, so if you learn to just breath slowly and relax thru this time, the panic attack will end quickly. I suggest you look into taking a class on panic management, most are available at your local mental health clinics. Also talk to your doctor about possible use of antianxiety agents to help you deal. The panic attacks do lessen in severity and intensity once you learn to deal with them.

yes they do. but when someone has got them in the first times, he freaks out completely. so you need to take some antianxiety drugs, like tranquillisers to calm you down, and make some major life style changes to get out of the rut you are in because your mind is trying to tell you something that you don't 'get' rationally.
in a nutshell, you've got help yourself and see a therapist even if it expensive , it's the best money you've ever spent on anything.
from then on you will figure this out by yourself and when an attack comes, you will have will power over it and in a couple of seconds, it will fade away and you wont be afraid of it anymore.
you have to WORK on it. it won't stop until you do something about it, because that what your mind is trying to tell you ' fix these things or else i will bother you no end'.
i don't wish 'good luck' ; i wish 'good work' to you. take the bull by the horns.

Panic attacks are related to frontal-lobe seizures and need to be treated by an expert, namely a psychiatrist. Please don't wait. They don't magically disappear. Medication is key. They might stop after a few months or years, but I wouldn't wait that long. The emotional damage is horrendous.
Next time you have one, you might consider checking yourself into the E.R. But I wouldn't wait - I would call a doctor now, today. Best of luck.

My question is what have you done to stop them. You need to see a doctor and get a prescription for Ativan or Xanax. They relieve the symptoms within 20 minutes. That's what they make them for. They're not going to stop on their own. Good luck!

I can only tell you what helped me. Klonopin. See your doctor, and ask him if he thinks that would be right for YOU. Every body is different. There are a lot of anti-anxiety meds that work immediately. AAAHHHHHHH........... No more panic attacks (or anxiety attacks, for that matter!.) YAY!!! :D
