They won't change the war plan, not this close to the election, they feel that is better to keep saying Bush lied even though Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act on October 31st 1998, this act was in support of regime change and the ousting of Saddam Hussein.

According to all of the Liberals Bush lied, this is an illegal war that was not authorized by the UN, hmmmm how about UN Resolution 687, how about all of the Democrats remarks about all of the WMD's that Saddam had.

Then of course it is all about the oil, wasn't it the Democrat Al Gore that sold almost half of the US oil reserves, Elk Hills, to Occidental Petroleum, should I dare even mention that Al Gore's father, Al Gore Sr., was a vice president of Occidental Petroleum.

Oh, to answer your question, NO I never believed that the democrats would make a difference.

They haven't? As soon as the 2006 elections were over, Bush made some huge changes. Remember Rumsfeld and the new military leadership changing the whole way the war is being fought? I don't think he would have if the Republicans would have retained their majority.

The democrats are putting some serious pressure on the Bush administration and the Iraq government even though they aren't defunding the Iraq occupation. They have been the catalyst to the changes that have taken place since 2006.

Yes, the Democrats will stop wasting billions of dollars in a unwinnable war. A political solution is needed in Iraq, not a military solution.

In Jan 2009, President Hillary Clinton will start the withdrawal of forces.

you seem to be forgetting that Bush has veto power and is th commander in chief

I don't understand, first you people whine that it's Bush's responsibility to run the war not congress and then you whine about congress not telling bush what to do, makes no difference what the democrats do, you'll whine about it...

"edmond_dixon" 5 stars for your reply, I really wish these people would dump the republican party, the republican party has had some great ideals in the past, but these idiots that will support ANYTHING as long as it's in the name of republicanism, make it very hard for a person like me to envision supporting it

That's because the Democrats don't have a plan. They are totally clueless and don't want to admit it but the Republicans plan is better.

Pull us out of there early and you will see more attacks on American soil than 9/11.

I'd hate to see the Taliban go up against a pickup load of Redneck hunters with shotguns. My money would be on the Rednecks.

What's even more amazing is your total inability to understand our system of government. As a voter, and hard core republican, I find this line of thought so stupid as to be almost beyond belief. If you want to discuss politics, spent at least five minutes studying our form of government before you start rattling your head.
Your question makes the party, and you, look unbelievably naive.

The Democrats don't control the white house (yet) and they do not have a large enough majority in congress to force Bush to change course.

After 2008 when we have 60+ senators we will take care of things.

Alot of Democrats are proving to follow the polls and not really believe in anything.

It won't take long for everyone to figure that out and kick them out of office like they did in the 80's

Because they have no plan, never did, never will, except for "give up!" Probably why this congress has lowest approval ratings ever and less then Pres. Bush! This congress is a disgrace.

That's because only Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich know what is best for US Foreign policies.

The two parties are both garbage and its time for a real change.
