try putting something that has a rhythm near her as she sleeps, like a watch/clock/metronome. i heard it helps, the sound is soothing, etc. maybe because it mimics its mother's heartbeat.

This is not a baby we're talking about here, only puppies nap regularly. If you want your dog to stop barking and start resting during the day then you need to exercise your dog more, apparently he's not getting enough exercise to tire him out and the fact that he's barking sounds like he's extremely frustrated and he's trying to work off his frustration. A couple of hours at the dog park, or an hour walk, running along side your bike for 45 minutes should do it two times a day. If he's gotten enough exercise he'll settle down and sleep for a hour or two. Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog.

Huh? It sounds like, and I may be wrong, you are getting aggrivated by the amount of attention your dog requires. Well, you will adapt, but you must change your lifestyle and make more time for your dog. You cannot turn the dog off when you don't want to play with her! After all YOU chose HER, not the other way around, and when you bring that dog home, you've made a lifetime committment to her! Anything else is cruel and shameful. So, here's the deal: Your dog needs more excersize. Walk her at least once a day, at least half hour walk. You should also spend time playing catch, cuddling, and training her. You must set aside time each day for your dog. On the weekends, try going places with her, like hiking or to a dog friendly lake or beach. After you do this, you will find that your dog grows less insecure and is able to chill out with you. But YOU must PUT IN THE WORK!!! Good luck, and please don't think something is wrong with your dog or abandon her or anything. When something is wrong in a dog/human relationship, it's usually not the dog....

Give her more exercise so she is tired out and more likely to sleep. If you are trying to get her to sleep in a crate and she is barking, she might be anxious from being separated from you; you will have to teach her that this is not acceptable and help her to learn that you are not abandonning her when you step away. PS at 3 years, that's a dog, not a puppy.

At 3 years old your dog is no longer a puppy. If all she does is bark maybe she needs something productive to do or she needs alot more excersie. A busy dog is a happy dog.

Well, you can't make a pup nap when you want her to...

Why is she barking? Is she left alone too much, stuck outside, bored, ??

Is she getting enough exercise and attention?

3 years old is NOT a puppy. She is full grown dog.

don't expect a pet to sleep on command. this isn't a human baby, dogs have their own routines. you have to adapt to what a dog does, not expect the dog to do what you want all the time
