Well, I sang "get it shawty" using a cell phone, and I was wondering if I sound better if I use a camcorder. I currently don't have a camcorder, and I hope that my dad will buy one this christmas or something. lol.

Absolutely!. The microphone that is built-in inside Camcorder is way much better than those in Cell phone. Camcorders nowadays are equipped with high-end microphone. Some of them has Dolby and even surround sound. So yes, consider yourself getting one camcorder. Cellphone can never be as good as camcorder (video & sound quality wise).

First off the recorder might not be high quality. But the big thing probably is that your are hearing your real voice. When you sing generally you sound better to yourself. The reason for this is because when your vocal chords (larynx) vibrate so does your skull slightly, this creates a more whole warmer sound that appeals to one self more. The thing is though is that this is not what others are hearing, generally your actual voice is higher pitched and a little more sharp sounding. Also singing through your nose will cause a more nasally sound to occur. This generally applies to most people who have never taken lessons. Do not compare your voice to ones you hear though in main stream songs because most of those have been computer modified to sound better to the masses.

A cellphone is optimised for speech frequencies. A camcorder would be much better (and in stereo too)!

well yes it would - but you would be even better and cheaper if you had a proper microphone and plugged it straight into your computer.
