Setting people up to fail is a sin, Adam was a perfect man without sin as long as he obeyed god's order not to eat of the tree, Satan is the one who sat Adam and eve to fail, Adam could of said no and also eve, God's command was out of obedience not a set up, notice a spiritual creature questioned eve to set her up.

If your question is in reference to God's placing of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden with the instructions not to eat of the apple, not, it was not a security blanket. At least, if it was, it was not much of one, involving as it did the torturous death of God's son.
No, God really hoped that the humans would do as He commanded. He made them capable of doing what He commanded, and did not set them up to fail.
