I bought a car in Virginia a few weeks ago. I live in North Carolina. The inspection sticker is valid till 8/08. In North Carolina the stickers are in the bottom corner of the windshield in front of the driver and in Virginia they are in the lower middle part of the windshield. Will it be legal for me to have a Virginia inspection sticker in North Carolina?

As long as the Virgina plates are on the car, the VA sticker is valid.

I'm not sure how soon you must register the car in NC., after taking up residency there.
At the time you register it in NC, you must obtain a NC Safety sticker and NC license.
You cannot have mixed Registration and Safety sticker. That's improper registration.
If both are VA, you may not be discovered unless you receive a citation, even for parking. Then, your present address in NC will be revealed and you will be cited for improper registration.
