There are two things I know of that it could be. It really depnds on what this "growth" looks like

1. The first signs of bumble foot. Is the bump a red swelling? Do you keep your guinea pig on wire flooring or any other rough surface? If so, this can be the beginning of a debilitating disease. If so, get rid of any wire floor and put him on a soft bedding. See here for more info: http://www.guinealynx.info/pododermatitis.html

2. A spur. A harmless outgrowth of skin that can be trimmed off. Look here for info: http://www.guinealynx.info/feet.html#spurs

This growth sounds like Bumblefoot or a Spur.

I would recommend you check out the above post which has some links to GuineaLynx, it should have pictures etc.

I'm with everyone on this... however, it maybe like a toe nail thing... I read about it somewhere... They said you have to clip it off or it could be caught on something. Go to your vet and have it checked out. I never experienced a extra nail thing (and its not polydactyl) but I have heard of it. It might not be cancer... and it probably isn't. How old is ur pig?

You need to take the little guy to a vet to find out the cause before you can treat it.

It could be a fungal, or bacterial infection, or it could even be cancerous. No way anyone could make a diagnosis sight unseen.
