My 16 year old has the same problem! The smell is like old onions and mustard! UGH. I switched him to an unscented body wash and Arm & Hammer unscented deodorant. I found that anything with a scent made it worse. He also wears a snug t shirt as an undershirt. The combination has made life much better for him...and me.

Does the smell just come from his underarms? If so, the odor could be in his T-shirts & every time he sweats-the odor is coming out again. Buy new T-shirts & shirts. If his entire body is smelling, then I would think its his diet. Change that too! When people eat garlic, they stink of that, comes out of their pores. Even though he doesn't eat onions.........it could be a combination of what he's eating that comes thru the pores smelling like onions. Good Luck! It will pass like everything else.

He may need to change his undershirt twice a day or more. This is not unusual for teen & preteen boys. It's the clothing that harbors the smell. Also, have him shower twice a day... and really lather the deodorant soap on. Most boys will just do a quick turn in the shower.

Using De-Od is harmful for the skin. The chemicals in De-OD clog the pores and the liquid gets purified into a foul smelling skin.

Let him use regular talcum powder and ask him to wear full arm inner vest.

Use a mild medicated soap.

Change his diet, bath soap, deoderant and laundry soap. Get rid of any shirts that smell at the armpits even when they are clean. Perhaps he needs to visit a dermatologist.

The healthfood stores have some herbal supplements that he could take that would help. If it is a problem with sweatglands then yeah, see a dermatologist. What worked for my brother was showering with antibacterial soap -just for under the arms and groin area. poor boy! how embarrassing for him...hope that helps!
