These are my own true experiences:

1. At that time I was living in a hostel. A religious man (not Christian) with two men knocked on my door. I had never seen them before. When I opened the door he started saying things that sounded interesting. So I let them in. He said that he knew that I was involved with a girl and asked me to go away from him to the corner of the room and write her name on a piece of paper, fold it and keep it. Then he wrote the name in another piece of paper and showed me. Later, a friend of mine told me they had been to her room too and the man wrote her boyfriend's name exactly which happened to be very long and complicated. How did he get the names?

2. Five years prior to this I had an encounter with another man. Just out of curiosity I agreed to do what he said. He put a small stone in my hand and asked me to close it. Then he carried out some movements with his 'magic stick' and asked me to open my hand. Lo and behold, the stone was replaced by a currency note neatly folded in my hand.

Let me have some answers and then I will give my comments. Thanks.

I think all possible answers have been covered from the incredulous (nobody important) to the supportive (Bajingo). The answer closest to being a rational explanation is by Vespr. I am aware of the slight of hand tricks which is what it is. Subliminal suggestions and hypnosis are still being studied and I don't think they have come to a point where they can be taught as science. But if someone claims there's no true magic (black magic, voodoo etc.) which are performed with the help of spirit powers then one is only refusing to see the obvious. Those who are not convinced can try them out if they feel like but it is dangerous to do so. There are TV programs where a psychic (medium) supposedly brings messages from the departed loved ones. According to my beliefs these are practices that pass off as 'religious' simply because they invoke the supernatural. We should have nothing to do with evil spirits.

I fell for it at a time when I was spiritually low as I was frustrated and wanted to know what the future held for me. That was the time I was into astrology, numerology, palmistry etc. Once I got off that phase I would not read anything about it even for fun. These are Satanic powers which are recognised but condemned in the Bible - "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead." (Deut. 18:10,11). Existence of supernatural, which is verifiable if one wants to, is a pointer to the fact that God exists since He is the Supreme Spirit.

Some of you unwittingly supported my position (Brendan G). Atheists can be magicians and need not believe in God because what they do is exactly opposite of what God wants them to do. Magic (the spirit kind) is Satanic while religion is about God. Both are supernatural.

Hocus pocus alakazzam...poof you're a sucker. Magicians and mysticists have been bringing their craft into the church and using it as a tool of conversion since the birth of religion. Subliminal suggestion, hypnotism, slight of hand are among the most definite answer to your question. I studied majic when I was a kid, just like thousands of other kids, and by the time I was thirteen, I could have done what you say this man did. Grow up. Learn to be ACOUNTALBE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS. You don't need to make up a God to take credit or blame for your accomplishments or faliures. I know it's scary to think that you might actually have the ultimate influence in your own life, but at some point you'll have to assume responsibility.

hrm, flaw in your question >>> Most who answered, their answers were not even their own thoughts, Maybe from books???? >>> Yes the ideas ARE based upon something that someone has proven and they were read out of books. What is someone just supposed to sit down and say "this is evolution" and just hope it is the correct answer? The point of science is to speculate what if, test the idea, and either prove yay or nay to that idea. And yes those ideas WERE recorded in books, it's called history, and it's good to write down... After all the bible is an interpretation of a story that someone a LONG time ago wrote down.... so you may not buy the fact that some people will read a science book, and "get it" and "buy" the ideas in the book etc.. but that is where belief systems come from, research and ideas of other people that are either proven or expanded upon. (Even your bible is based upon that). The main thing though is that scientists dont just say "this is right and everything else is wrong" however Religion does, and considering there are a few 1000 "religions" in the world (one of which is called scientology) they cannot all be right, so how can you be sure Christianity is the right one if you dont question it?

1. He was a private investigator. You'd be shocked at how much information someone can find out about you if they want to.

2. It was a banknote he put in your hand, there never was a stone in your hand. 'Magicians' have done the switch forever and it does not require a deity, or magic. Just sleight of hand and sleight of mind.

These examples are very easily explainable without resorting to spiritual or mystical possibilities.

I saw a similar stunt and slight of hand performed at the back of a city bus. Everyone (except me) was awestruck. I saw precisely how the "magic stick" trick worked, and it's not magic. It also takes just a little effort and just a few questions to learn a person's name and their relationships.

I am prone to accept metaphysical interpretations, however, I think miracles do not usually come in the form of shysters.

Are you kidding?? This has nothing to do with Theism OR Atheism, as both parties may or may not believe, or be fond of, magic. It is a totally different arena. Rephrase your question to: "Can you unveil the secrets of these magic tricks?" or "Which one of these magic tricks will fool a gullible loser like me and substantiate my belief in God? Probably both!"

firstly you say you are a religious man.... religion is the devil's tools... We are spiritual people religions open the door for the deceivers to manipulate through our spirit... The purpose of spirit is to unite us with nature... look and see how the plant life the wild life and insects. how when illness occurs and stuff that nature is quick to repair it, but in human life the illness is left to fester... that is the result of practicing religion... humans have yet to understand that they have a place in subjugation to nature... Every religious practice is a slap in the face to nature.. The word DEVIL and Satan has a new name Evil will now be called christian through out nature.... and as long as people follow the path called christian they will be knows as evil.. the next example is Islam.. and every one is a reminder why the human race is place under the command to be extinct...

So according to your theory all magic is really performed by god. David Copperfield is a very devout believer and therefore god performs magic for him. Could be. I'm not going to doubt your beliefs.

Someone is playing you, illusionists can do these things, as for the people showing up at your door, maybe they know someone that knows you, and they're just trying to freak you out, or they too are illusionists, its a simple parlor trick, these things can be explained, this isn't proof of anything

You can't expect us to guess how someone might have performed a magic trick based on your memories of events that happened years ago.
