I am wanting to learn all I can about Wicca, but cannot find any teachers. What are some good books for the solitary practioner? I have hear Scott cunningham is good, but forgot the name of his book.

I am an adult by the way way over 21. I say this because I understand some will not help minors and I agree with this.

Cheir can't you read or understand? Or do you care? Jesus never forced himself on others. Is that how Christians are? Ignore a request and say what you want anway?

Dr Zoom, what is the point in you long rant? I do know enough to know that many people do not like silver Ravenwolf and she is not one of the authors I would even consider reading.

Christians: why can't you follow Jesus example and preach only to those that have corrupted your belief system. ver preached to those outside Judaism, and he let people come to him, he never went to them.

The book is called Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. I used to have it, until I converted to Christianity.

You can start on this page, here, it also has lists of other books on witchcraft/Wicca:

I use to be Wiccan. Maybe you should read through one of my past answers to this kind of question, before making any big decisions:

If there is any truth to the old saying "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.", that truth is found in the occult, and Wicca in particular. Silver Ravenwolf has written close to a dozen books on the subject of "The Craft", and claims she has been studying it since about 1969, which is almost as long as I’ve been alive. She has written a book on how to cast money spells, and includes a chapter on how to do so in her Teen Witch book. But the thing is, she doesn't particularly sound all that prosperous herself. Ravenwolf writes,

"For years I couldn't afford to go to a hair stylist (still can't, it's shop and chop for me). I got pretty good at styling my own hair from looking at magazine pictures" [SOURCE: Teen Witch, Llewellyn Publications, 2003 edition, page 145]

OK, she so rich she can't go to the hairdresser. Hey, get me a copy of that Prosperity Spell book!

Silver Ravenwolf seems to have inadvertently discovered that Wicca makes things worse, but won't ever admit it as such.

In Teen Witch she says,

"A lot of people tell me how bad their lives have gotten after casting a spell and tell me they won't do Witchcraft anymore. I tell them their lives would have been much worse for not having cast the spell".

Gee Silver, you would think a lot of people would be saying things like "Hey, Silver Ravenwolf, my life has improved tremendously with Wicca!" if Wicca is as great as they claim. Instead it makes lives much worse, and even Silver Ravenwolf admits she hears this a lot!!!

Why? Because sometimes, things are just as you think they are. Most people would tell you the occult will bring misery into your life, and most people would be right. When you stop trying to rationalize it with inaccurate data and just use common sense you will realize this. There are two forces at work in this universe: the counterfeit and the genuine. Wicca’s source of power is not the genuine. There’s just simply no way Wicca (and thus the copycat Neopagan religions) can be created from the black magic writings of Aleister Crowley, “The Great Beast 666" (where much of Wicca is plagarzed from), the bizarre sexual practices of Gardner, the spiritual “guidance” of the Watchers (fallen angels) mentioned by writers like Grimassi and Huson,
and still be a source of good!

None of the people who have answered your question can make it work either, Don't delude yourself. It's an incredible waste of time and money, and it's spiritual poison.

My recommendations for beginners, in this order:
Thea Sabin, Wicca for Beginners
Scott Cunningham, Wicca for the solitary Practitioner and Living Wicca
Deborah Lipp, Elements of Ritual

I have more recommendations and reviews here: http://wicca.timerift.net/books.shtml

Eventually you should read Gerald Gardner's Witchcraft Today, just to see where we came from. As a solitary, a lot of info there isn't applicable, and the history is attrocious, which is why I don't recommend it to people just starting out. Eventually I think you should also read Ronald Hutton's Triumph of the Moon. It covers the history of the development of Wicca, but's its dense reading and does presume some knowledge of Wicca.

Some church buildings coach that some thing is evil that they do not recognize. This additionally comes from the bible. When Constantine wrote the bible extra that three hundred years after the dying of Jesus allot of matters had been handed down by way of phrase of mouth so allot of matters acquired converted or even eliminated. You ought to take into account that aspect of methods to carry men and women to the church buildings was once via worry and loss of technology for matters that weren't but understood comparable to illnesses and mediums had been named as evil matters, accordingly developing worry. They wanted men and women to visit church in order that they would congregate the hundreds to their crusade. I additionally suppose that allot of men and women use the bible passages to their possess time table. This may be very unhappy since I suppose whatever that was once supposed to be well was once changed into whatever misinterpreted altogether.

I suggest you stop looking. As you probably know Wicca is simply another name for witchcraft. This tries to use magic to control the behaviour of nature &/or people. Its effectiveness is dependent upon the use of demonic power. Before you get more involved in the occult I suggest you read 'From Witchcraft to Christ' by Doreen Irvine (Amazon.com).
