The best argument I can think of is so that you can use it to call them if you're ever in a situation where you need them (i.e. lost or in trouble). I suspect they will see beyond your lame attempt, but you might ask if you could "earn" it in some way by working around the house or something to earn the money to help pay for it.

Start babysitting and saving money to buy your own. When you have the money for the phone and the bill for the first 6 months, go to them and try to make a deal. I know you think you need a phone but you need to realize the difference between needs and wants. Take the time you spend "bugging" your parents to find ways to earn money. If you do this they will be impressed with your maturity and problem solving skills and might say yes to a phone. Good luck :)

If you have a birthday coming up, ask them if they can get you a prepaid phone, and as you earn money you can put more time on your phone. Teens tend to run up cell phone bills that parents aren't expecting. Do extra chores around the house. Ask members of your family if they have odd jobs for you to do to help you earn money to cover the expenses. That way, you will also be showing your parents that you are becoming more responsible as well. Good luck!

Get a job babysitting or delivering newspapers and then buy your own cell phone. If your parents don't want to get you one after bugging them this much, you will have to do it yourself.

Personally, I don't think a 13 year old needs a cell phone.

its weird how ur parents wont give u one. a cell phone is a necessity. tell them the benefits of having one.

-if u get lost or get into an accident you can easily call for help
-communicate with friends and relatives
-they can contact you right away wherever you are

im tired...there are too many advantages to havin a cell phone. look it up on the net. that'll help you get a phone.

I got my phone when I was 16. Honestly, a phone is an electronic leash for your parents. Granted, it lets you communicate with your friends better.

If you really want one, I would say convince them that when you go out, you need a way for them to contact you and you contact them. For sure you will need one by the time you start driving, but until then dude, whats the point?

I waited until I was 16, and honestly, I did not mind at all.

Unless you're paying the bill, you are not going to convince them. Your parents are just not keen to have you run up huge bills to further your social life.

Look for one of the "prepaid" cell phones that you buy minutes for in set allotments (they are recharged by buying one of those minutes cards at supermarkets etc). Then you will be using your own money to pay for what you do with the phone.

if they won't budge on cell phone, try to bargain. do chores or get a b-sitting job. earn your own $$$$ then get your own phone. even just a trac phone, there only 20-50 $$$ it won't take that long to earn that amount, and job will keep providing more minutes. if parents see your responsible w\ phone then maybe they will get you a real phone soon.

tell them, What if i omit the bus and that i cant get in touch with you? or What if we had a relatives emergency? or What if we've a metamorphosis of plans? And what if i could stay after college and that i cant use the faculty telephone. tell them i choose for a mobile telephone using fact of protection themes and that i'm extra in charge. which could convince them much extra. good success!!!!

Try the I'll be responsible approach. Tell him that your willing to do extra house chores, babysit, and ect.... Also remind them that as soon as you can get a part-time job you'll do so in order to pay the bill.
