400 mgs of Riboflavin (vitamin B-2) a day every day. No side effects, water soluble so you pee it out. Works after 2 to 3 weeks of taking it. John's Hopkins study. I have done it for 4 years and have not had a migraine except when I forget my doses. Good Luck

i used to have a big problem with migraines, and i agree with Judy, one of the best things you can do is keep a log.
one of the big contributers to migraines is a hypersensitive nervous system, basically your body is sensitive to big changes, and when things are out of balance, this can result in a migraine. triggers can include, lack of sleep, stress, certain foods, etc. and the best way to determine what your migraines are is to keep a log. if you are serious about resolving this problem, then it is going to take some effort.
for me i also found taking the herbal pill butterbur combined with feverfew helped in prevention tremendously. now when i occasionally do get one, i take zomig, and this resolves it for me. but everyone has a different body, so every resolution will be different.

See your family doctor about the migraines. There are medications that help prevent them and others that will stop one if taken early enough.

Keep a headache diary and document what you had eaten and drunk, and skipped meals, how much caffiene, how much sleep you got, stress level, hormone status if female (part of cycle), weather on the days you get your headaches. You may be able to identify your triggers so as to avoid them.

if theyre like mine, You should probably sit in a dark quiet room till it passes. Mine are caused (as are most migraines) by a lack of caffine. Thats why excedrine migraines active ingredient is caffine. not a lot, just enough to get the migraine to go away.

Drink a cup of coffee or something when they hit.
