Do you know of any negative experiences that occurred to friends or family? How long were they out of work? Would migraines be considered a comorbity? I have tried adkins diet, weight watchers, diet pills. I am like 39 bmi. Everyone that I have talked about it with has said only negative comments about it? Im only 19 years old and I have very depressed from this. How big are the scars?

Everyone is saying that I am lazy for doing it but I seriously have been overweight for like ten years. I got skinny after I did the adkins diet but gained it back within two months.

You must realize that if you take this step, you will never eat a normal meal again. That's not something to be taken lightly. You said you've tried Atkins, Weight Watchers, and diet pills. All three of those are flawed strategies that by themselves, won't work for anyone looking to lose weight for the long term.

I'd suggest you try proper nutrition (which is not a fad diet) and consistent exercise first. Trust me, that will be a lot easier than the nutrition program you'll need to follow after surgery, and after surgery you'll need to exercise anyway. So it only makes sense to try that first.

It's a big step, Danielle. My bias leans towards your consulting a bariatric surgery center, preferably affiliated with a university or major hospital. You would receive needed counseling and support before and after surgery.

After surgery, you must follow a rigid diet plan, otherwise you will be very uncomfortable after eating. The scars from surgery vary. To those of us who are not as involved, scarring is a very minor issue. Excess skin folds may be a problem, but these, too, are remediable.

I don't think you are lazy, but have you considered that once you've had the surgery they are basically going to put you on an Atkins-type diet? Wouldn't it be better to simply go back to Atkins as a lifestyle, and skip mutilating your body permanently? It would be a shame to do so much damage to yourself at such a young age.
