First off, you didn't have the flu. The flu is a respiratory disease, not a gastroentero disease. You do not have stomach cramps, diarrhea, etc with the flu. You most likely have a small bout of gastroenteritis (food poisoning) that can caused by either bacteria or viruses. If you are not on any antibiotic and you still have diarrhea, then you are probably still shedding bacteria/virus in your stool. If you do not use proper hygiene then you may be able to pass this. Make sure to always properly wash your hands after going to the bathroom.

The general rule I used to use with my nursing students - is that if you are on antibiotics then you are no longer contagious after 24 hours of taking the first pill. If you are not on antibiotics then you are contagious for three days after the start of symptoms. It seemed to work very well and we never passed on any illnesses to our patients!

Hope you feel better soon!

If that is the case, you didn't have the flu. You probably had a touch of gastritis and that isn't contagious in the first place.

Yes you are.

Until the diarrhea is basically gone - consider yourself contagious.

Not to be gross - but the MOST important way to avoid giveng this to others is to wash your hands after bowel movements!!

But also - do not share drinks, food, shake hands, kisses, etc.

Try yogurt - proven to help decrease the diarrhea after viral stomach illnesses.

Has to have live cultures.
