What software is there to make a photo gallery/slideshow on a DVD, that will work in a standard DVD player?

I've tried a couple programs before (I don't remember their names, it was several years ago) and they were horrible, crashing all the time or taking forever to deal with galleries that had a few hundred pictures in them.

Any suggestions? I'd prefer a free program, but I'm willing to pay up to $200 for one that will give professional looking results.

I don't remember the newest version Movie Maker 2.1 have built-in DVD burner. ACDsee is a good tool for browse pictures. There are many slideshow software, such as Adobe Premire,Microsoft PhotoStory, Proshow Gold. Now I use Wondershare Slideshow Builder 3.5.0. It is easy to use and powerful, but I don't think it is a professional slideshow software. However, I love its 3D transition effects, easy photo editing, quick video trimming, free download menu templates and built-in DVD burner, it can burn slideshow to DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray DVD.

Have you used Windows Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP (sp2 and higher)?

It can make great slideshows and save them for burning to DVD with a DVD authoring program or direct to DVD if you have Windows Media Center edition.
