The Toyota Carina is a model that was never sold in the US.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Carina
It was replaced by the Toyota Allion, again a car not sold in the US.
(Toyota has a large product lineup, but they're not all offered/sold everywhere: http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/about_toyota/manufacturing/product.html )
As the Carina was a "sporty" compact car, I would say that the closest equivalent in the US would probably be the compact Toyota Corolla S.

If that doesn't match the size, I'd say to look into the midsize Toyota Camry

Three of the major Toyota cars here, from largest down are the "Avalon"(largest luxury), Camry, then Corolla. I looked at photo's of Carinas and to me, it looks like the Corolla. You could go to a Toyota site and pull up specs to be sure.
