Basic guitar is the same on electric/acoustic. you have to be aware that it will hurt your left hand fingertips for a while, and you cannot have long, pretty nails on your left hand. If you are just starting, it's probably better to go for an acoustic at first 9or even an electro acoustic) until you are sure that it's what you want to do and are happy with it. Then you can decide whether an electric is for you or not. Of course, it's more expensive buying electric co you have to buy an amp as well. Hope this helps. There is a range of guitars called Daisy Rock designed for girls

Playing any instrument is hard....nothing in life is easy, or we'd all be playing something. You learned how to read in school, playing music is no different, it's just doing the same thing day after day over and over again, you need a lot of patience and a desire to want to play. There is a way that you can play that isn't too hard and that's just playing a few chords, maybe about ten chords would give you enough chords to be able to play hundreds of songs, it will take about three months to get the callouses that you'll need on your fingers to be able to play without pain. In my opinion electric is no different to play then acoustic, other then be easier on the ears of those around you while your learning to play, nothings worse then listening to someone practice on electric guitar, you have to know how to play them in order for it to sound good. Good luck, why not learn to play, it's a great hobby, and I promise, you'll never be bored !!!!!!!!

For a girl I feel like it's easier to start on the electric. Thinner neck isn't so straining on your wrists. I started playing guitar when I was 13/14, and it took me a few years to really be a decent player. But it's different with individuals. I've met some people who have played for a few years and sound amazing, while others I've known have played for 30 years and sound poorly. It just depends on how much time you want to invest, and how badly you want to learn.
Good luck.:)

I'd get a kind of significance packs. Comes with a guitar, amp, video, chord chart(SOME), and more often than not the whole lot else you want. Strat copies are particularly well starter electrics. As for amps Line 6 makes the excellent. The Spider line is particularly first-rate.

Depends on the person. But heck, if *I* can play the guitar, ANY idiot can!

You can start on electric, but you will develop better finger strength and callouses by starting on acoustic.
