I would like to know if anyone thinks that anything is really going to CHANGE anytime in the near future. Are we going to be having this conversation in a year, 10 years- 30? I know that the "antis" keep saying that "change is a-coming" and the "pros" believe the same, but for different reasons. Does anyone have proof of progress anywhere- in either direction?
I read that someone said the border crossings have lessened. Anything else? It seems to be getting old fast. It would be great to just have it dealt with - whichever way it may go- I would like to just have it decided already.....

Why are you so obtuse? Are you an "anti" or a "pro"?

Don't you think the millions of illegal alien criminals that have broken the law and taken jobs away from the law abiding citizens of America deserve to be deported?

Or do you put criminals above the welfare of your own fellow countrymen?

Well I don't think that I will be having these conversations here in a year because they are frustrating and most arguments are just people saying the same things and not trying to think.

I think that illegals in the US is an issue that has a lot of public attention that is misdirected because there is a lot of hype now but there are much more important things in our lives and in the world that we can be applying our selves to.

I can believe that there will be fewer illegals in the US in the future. One reason may be increased enforcement and harrasment and less reason to want to go to the US or stay in the US. Another may be social conditions in Latin America improve and conditions in the US not. Both reasons are not good things for Americans if you think about it.

The reality of illegal immigration to the US and other 1st world countries will not go away soon. But I think that more people will get tired of the drama about it in the US...

I think that the Bush and ICE crackdowns are a good indicator to America what will happen when these laws are applied to fine employers and ICE raids, it will show the economic effects of those policies, Last month CNN reported the loss of 40,000 American jobs, the 1st such loss in 4 years. Is it just a coincidence or the writing on the wall. Only time will tell.

Probably until the next election has passes and politics quit pressing the matter as an issue.

It would take less then ten years to close the border if a real leader was in charge, it would take far less then 10 years to evict the criminals if a real leader was in charge, and it would take less then 10 years for American business to pay American workers to get their jobs done if we had a real leader in charge....but we don't so its highly likely we'll be talking about this - still - in ten years.

Hopefully we wont keep having this conversation much longer. I think we are seeing some changes like states getting harder on illegals, more raids etc. but it is seeming to be a slow process.

I still find it odd that if I want to visit your country (Not from Mexico) and watch an NFL game, I have to jump through hoops, and show 7 pieces of ID...

Yet someone enters illegally, and they're allowed to stay???

And yet, I'm going for the purpose of SPENDING money in your economy... And they are going to TAKE it from your economy to send home...

That's messed up...

There are more raids happening daily. In the workplace, on criminal enterprizes, read the news.

More and more people are sick and tired of what's going on and they seem to be turning more illegal operations in all the time.
