Do you live outside India, and visit it once in 1 or 2 or 3 years? We do. We've lived outside India for over 15 years, and each time we visit India it is a nerve-wracking time. And funny thing is, it has nothing to do with the often mentioned pollution, traffic, bribes etc, these are things that we take in stride. It is always to do with people - family, friends and how everyone tries to manage our trip for us.
And, of course, the in-laws factor. They just have to screw up our trip in one way or another. We learn from each trip, and then, bing, they have a new way of messing it up next time.
We fight over an India-trip like we fight over nothing else, and we always need a vacation after an Indian vacation.

Do you also dread the very idea of India trip? And almost wish you didn't have to go? Spend so much time and money and come back more stressed out? What bugs you the most about visiting India?

when u love going to india but u spoil your trip everytime because of your inlaws.. why dont u learn from it and dont tell them that u r visiting india thats all. and if u dont have any option but to tell -first go travel anywhere u want, enjoy and then last 2-3 days give them a surprise!!! or if u think they are not going to like it just dont tell them u r in india. when i go to india i tell anyone who invites me that we are sorry we have a busy schedule and wont be able to make it for their dinner invitation or visit. thats all. we go there, travel, chill and come back refreshed.

Hi There,

i made my way to India after 15 years its was very hard decision to make but i had not choice.
don't take me wrong I love my culture and Punjabi traditions and every thing about olden days living i always wish i could live that old fantice like my grand parents and all..

But on this trip as soon landed on Punjab airport i was ready to be back home, lovely red bus that transferred passengers from plan to airport terminal Jesus Christ actually i was first time willing to walk in willingly in 5 inch high heels.

My Dad could stop laughing i was nearly in tears,,,smoke from bus that evening made me so ill.

i don't think i every wanna go there for pleasure but i do want to go to help less fortune women...i don't know when though less hope not too late though

enjoy your day xoxo

bye Prity

I know you will not like my answer to your question. But I want to give my mind to people like you, who have no self respect at all. You would go to a foreign country and do low dignity jobs there and curse when you see someone doing the same back in India. India is a country with good culture, good food, and good environment too. It is people like you who spoil its name following two different cultures. Stop cursing your mother land, you deshdrohis

The diffrence in India compared to other countries is that there is no benifit/social security, thats why there is extreme poverty and without a decent education you carn't get a good job, just think how other so called places would be if there was no social security to fall back on?

well i haven't been back there for 7 years lol, & whenever your going back to Indian for Vacation don't tell your family members that your coming over, just stay in a hotel & enjoy your vacation, & if you just go there to visit them don't bother

We are also living abroad for nearly 10 years.....

We enjoy every time we visit .... we don't want to come back ......

When we go all our relatives come to the Airport.... such a warm welcome ..... .

It can happen only in India.....

The day we leave many relatives and family come to the Airport .....

With tears we leave .......

My in laws give me such nice treatment.... not only them.... everyone .....

Trust me we always love to go there to experience the love and affection showered on us
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I am sure you are living in US. Many NRI's land up in India and show all their attitudes and treat every one as their slaves.....

They want everyone to dance to their tunes

When they don't do ...... you start feeling bad......

I totally don't agree with you ..
