Our Golden Retriever pup was just spayed about 4 days ago and seemed to be doing well after the surgery.
This morning she had a hard time getting up and felt like she had a fever and threw up a few times... is this normal? The vet said she shouldn't be sore and that she was fine when he saw her last... this answer made me feel very uncomfortable. She is having a hard time laying down and getting up and going outside is hard for her to squat to go to the bathroom and also to get up the stairs after she is done.. the site of the surgery looks ok... it is not hot and swollen or anything but I cant figure out what might be happening to her.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I'd bring her to the vet if I were you. It's very normal for dogs to be weak and lethargic for a few days after their operation but if she's displaying obvious discomfort, and not just lethargy, then it could be some sort of inflammation.

You need to contact your vet. While some dogs are sore after surgery according to you it has been 4 days since the surgery and this is just showing up..this is not a normal response that far after.

well recovery time depends on each individual dog. when my dog was spayed, she had the same problems as your dog has. she had a hard time getting up, going to the bathroom and she even threw up. she did get better in about 2-3 days though. if this continues though, i'd take her to a different vet since yours makes you uncomfortable.

i'm sorry to pay attention of your loss! in case you're no longer likely to reproduce the canine, you're able to have him neutered. it won't harm him, make him stay a short existence or something like that. The surgical operation is unquestionably rather user-friendly, under a teaspoon of blood is lost, and in user-friendly terms takes approximately 15 minutes (I purely watched my Irish Setter be neutered final week). some vets choose for to attend till 10 to 365 days of age to neuter. the reason of it is that it provides the male canine extra time do improve their hip (returned end) section. they have a tendency to look "much less girlie" from at the back of - regardless of no longer having their male areas. talk on your vet as to while they want to neuter a canine. i think of your dad purely has themes with the seen having areas bumped off. Ask your dad if that's ok to spay a woman canine. it will be extra healthy on your canine - that's going to decrease his hazard of a number of cancers. Snip away my chum.

yes, take her back to the vet... she might have an infection starting.. esp if the area feels "Hot" to the touch (which isn't normal).

I personally wouldn't spay or neuter any pet unless absolutely necessary and I've seen numerous questions on sick pets on this site after they've been spayed or neutered. The vet should have given this pet an antibiotic,as it appears that this pet has something gone wrong.Try keeping your pet very still even if you must confine it,and call your vet.
